headphones ?

Ok so i am looking for a pair of 5.1 surround sound headphones for watching blu ray movies and gaming but i have a few questions first

1) I would be using them with a ps3 and i have a lot of movies with dts audio so would i be to connect them to the ps3 and be able to play the or would i need some extra hardware like a dts decoder

2) which is the best way of connection for surround sound optical audio , 3.5mm stereo jack or usb

3) are there any wireless or am i better with wired

Why headphones? Aren't speakers good?

i want to use them mainly for bluray and i cant get speakers cause im on the second floor and it would make to much noice

I dont know much but i do know ive head reports that wireless are pretty dang good. Better quality and whatnot. I dont know why. I would expect lag or static but i guess not.

You have to remember, with ANY audio source, the most you are ever getting is 2.1 (you only have 2 ears.) So any headphones can replicate the same exact sound as a surround 5.1 system with just a regular stereo jack. The PS3 should be rendering DTS so anything you plug into it will work fine. As for which headphones, here's some options

If you want to go on the cheap buy a pair of Sennheiser HD-202s,

One of these:

And one of these:

And go through your audio settings and route it through the original AV cables that came with your PS3 (if youre using HDMI. If not, just unplug the audio cables and hook em up)

why not just plug directly into the TV instead of using couplers and having to change them ect...

Well, because I can always change the settings and route the sound back through HDMI, plus when I do want to watch actual TV, I won't have to change out the cables just to have the sound coming through the speakers.
