Hacking HDD not recognised by Wii

So a friend gave a 50gb ntfs hdd and backed his games on it with wii backup manager and the drive is not recognised by the wii. It also is not reconised on other wii which is soft modded. Other ntfs hdd works perfect. The other hdd was used to transfer to the 50gb drive which worked fine. It also only gives the option to format to only ntfs with windows 7 and is not recognised on XP. The files can be browsed on Win 7.

you partitioned it using gpt
use mbr instead

while newer OS support both
winXP and wii homebrew only support the older mbr
