Ok am I missing something? I updated today, without any trouble. Tested all my stuff, emu's, loaders, etc, anything else I could think of. All works fine. I've read this entire thread and I'm wondering if there is some fundamental issue that people are confused on. I'd like to put in like this in two points, one as I understand things, and two as I THINK others are misunderstanding, please someone confirm or correct me on both points.

1.(how i understand thigns) HBC has been updated. WiiBrew folks decided not to "host" cIOS stuff on THEIR site anymore. Does not stop anyone from getting that stuff somewhere else. Does not stop anyone from using those apps gotten from somewhere else with the new HBC. You just wont find them on WiiBrew anymore. WiiBrew folks, in updating HBC have chosen to change the way they do things so that cIOS are pretty much obsolete in the future. Thus maintaining their stance against the cIOS methods. Custom cIOS installers, apps that use cIOS 222, 249, or whatever STILL run fine from the new HBC. WiiBrew is just pointing out that they have made it possible to run apps without the need for these methods. They have NOT turned off or disallowed anything, other than just removing them from their site.

2.(how i think its being misunderstood) People hear that the new HBC has made it possible to no longer "need" cIOS's in future apps. They assume this means ANY app that used a cIOS will now instantly not work with the new HBC. The flames start flying both ways, pirate vs. non-pirate gets mentioned and all of a sudden people think there is something bad about this new update. Someone mentions an app that no longer seems to work (possible bug or user issue, or something totally unrelated to HBC) and everyone freaks out.

So if these points are both true, the ONLY issue is that WiiBrew has chosen to not host cIOS based apps, and apps that use cIOS's on their site. And if so, what is the problem?? Just trying to bring some common sense back into the mix. If im wrong please tell me cause then, I may really have an opinion on all this, cIOS's have brought me alot of joy, maybe I should be upset, or maybe someone who runs a website should and is able to put whatever they want on their site.

Finally someone who understands this.

instead of using multiple cios and slots all over the place for this and that, all apps once converted, will have full access and work off the same ios.

Yes, there is no reason why sneek or usb loader can't just be an app that uploads a custom starlet image.
It's a really good thing.

I also wouldn't update with anything other than the official update. I don't have any reason to have any of my IOS trucha patched.

The only patch I would consider is re-enabling bannerbomb, but I doubt it's that easy.

How can i use the IOS58 installer offline?
I dint have an internet connection on my Wii

Get NUSD (from wiibrew.org)

Download the lastest version of ios58 and pack it as a wad

Use wad manager to install it

Thanks for digging that up and answering my call. I really can't see how this is a bad thing. Yeah, some devs would have to submit to this way of doing it but in the end would it not make the end products even better having full access ???

How much different is HW_AHBPROT access or whatever in comparison to the ios loading that has been done ?? I mean how much of a learning curve for the devs is there ?? really, I don't know ?? I'm just wondering.

am I the only one not able to run homebrew browser from usb drive since 1.0.8 ?? usb not connecting

I've never gotten Homebrew Browser to run strictly from USB on even the older versions of HBC. I cant get Bootmi cfg Editor to work from USB either

Read my guide in my sig and you can get them both working real easy. I'm working on HBC 1.0.8 now but 1.0.7 goes in without a hitch.

The latest Priiloader supports HBC 1.07 and 1.08.

Goto to your priiloader and enable beta updates then search for an update. It's say's version 0.5 is available although it's still 0.4 with the title id mod.

Is this version available only when updating through priiloader? cause I don't have wi fi for the wii. I went to the google code page and there's a 0.5 version but it does not support hbc 1.0.7 yet

Yeah no idea why but DacoTaco has yet to release it officially.
cause its a BETA. and BETAs are potentially unstable.
and unstable code isn't meant to be released to the regular users who are usually stupid and dont realise a BETA can do anything

Should I update to 1.0.8? And is there a Priiloader or not for it? You guys seem to be contradicting each other.
Update to 1.0.8, and the title id is the same than 1.0.7, so priiloader works.

There is a priiloader hack for that.

I'm not sure I want to install priiloader, but I did think about it but couldn't find a list of patches that included re-enabling bannerbomb. Also their googlecode page says that they don't recommend running it on 4.3 anyway.

It's a pity you can't install bootmii as the system menu's IOS and have it work the same as bootmii as boot2.

Just because they don't interest you, doesn't mean they aren't improvements.

Just because they've been removed from wiibrew.org, doesn't mean you can't run them. Updating does not remove any functionality, but it does give advantages for some homebrew programs.
All I've said is that the new updates don't interest me or add any actual functions to things useful to me, what I'm interested in trying is already working fine, so I myself won't be updating.

I'm not contesting that, just voicing my opinion on the attitude behind the move..
QUOTE
Geez, just let the user choose what he/she wants to do with their apps.
These two sentences seem to be in conflict with each other. What a user chooses to do with their apps doesn't have anything to do with where they're hosted.

Open your eyes, people. This isn't an attack on piracy, it's a purging of unsafe apps that can be re-implemented in much safer ways. How many bricks have been caused by n00bs messing around with their IOSes?
I was voicing my disagreement with the attitude/philosophy/outlook behind the move, which I view to be over-stepping on user's choice. Instead of letting the user make their own decisions, decisions are made FOR them. I know the HBC can still run stuff, I know the users can still find apps on the internet, I'm not even saying anything about the actual act of app removal from a website, I just disagree on a philosophical level with that attitude/philosophy/outlook. You're not their parents, nor everyone wants you to be their babysitters, just leave the choice to the user, that is my opinion.
