Hey guys! If I update my Wii U to 5.5.2 and I currently have Haxchi installed, will I no longer be able to use Haxchi? or does the update only affect the browser exploits?

If you use Haxchi, it is safe to install 5.5.2. Alternatively, you can just run NNU-Patcher to update your games without installing 5.5.2.

People who don't have Haxchi should not install 5.5.2. The 5.5.1 browser exploit is far more reliable than the 5.5.2 browser exploit.

that is wonderful! have you tested dimok's newER sig patcher (https://gbatemp.net/threads/simple-signature-check-patcher.451138/page-17)yet? if so, can you tell me if it will work on 5.5.2, as well as wupinstaller, or will all 5.5.1 applications work on the update? I'm kinda nervous to update but I need to... NNU-patcher failed me...

There's no need for this. Haxchi automatically does it. In addition, 5.5.2 is functionally the same as 5.5.1, minus browser exploitation.

If NNU-Patcher isn't working, you're probably doing something wrong. Which DNS filters are you using, and in which order?

filter order:

c.shop.nintendowifi.net
nus.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
nus.cdn.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
nus.cdn.shop.wii.com
nus.cdn.wup.shop.nintendo.net
nus.wup.shop.nintendo.net

also I am using OpenDNS, if it helps.

yeah, I forgot to mention to use the dns to block updates. I have mine filtered as well, but I have the two dns servers in the dns slots for ease of use. I just disable it, access the eshop/download update, then reenable it. if u don't, u should get a "cannot display image" error when accessing the eshop.

Btw, you can block via this link, can't quote link

This means you can access the eShop and update games while still blocking updates
Hi Lia does this remove the update folder. I'm on 5.5.1 with cold boot Haxchi with DNS Block. Would be nice to update game, go on live play etc with out NNU patcher.

  • It does remove the update folder
  • Without NNU-patcher, you cannot go online, update games or use the eShop
  • You should update to 5.5.2, since you have CBHC
  • After updating to 5.5.2, then it is recommended to block updates

Thanks 4 the reply Lia. So turn DNS off allow it to update. I should not need NNU patcher then untill & if 5.5.3 is released. Block updates with DNS or via you link ? Not sure what update blocker wii u does. Need to see if it works when I'm still on 5.5.1. So need a way to turn it on and off, is that a option when you run it Lia.
Thank stuckagain

You should update to 5.5.2, and then block updates using the guide, in case 5.5.3 comes out.

Online play still works on 5.5.1 without NNU-Patcher.

You have to install the 5.5.2 VersionData however, right? Updating to 5.5.2 would be the easiest option here, considering they have CBHC.
No, you don't have to touch 5.5.1 for online play to work.
