Received a video game from a family member or a close friend, and they bought a really cheap $19.99 game that you would have never bought due to the many negative, low scoring reviews it received? But you actually really enjoyed it and was surprised??

My mom and sister a few days ago bought me Asphalt 3D for my Nintendo 3DS. I would have never bought the game due to its 3/10 scores, but I actually found that I am really enjoying the game!

Tell me about these kinds of situations where you really enjoyed a game that literally no one else liked/enjoyed.

Thats how I got bioshock, I know it wasnt given negative points but I didnt like the looks of it, but I ended up loving it

My brother got me Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, which has one of the worst ratings ever on IGN I guess
But I actually really enjoyed the game, kept playing it for 3 weeks straight trying to unlock everything possible within the game

Not really.
Where I'm from, when you're at school, friends gift you wallets or pens, when you're in high school, they give you money.

And my family doesn't like video games, so having them is a no unless I buy them myself.

Colony Wars and Resident Evil.
Some others but I can't remember from the top of my head

PS: Oh wait... missed out the low reviews thing. Just Colony Wars.

Not really, I often get asked if I want anything, and I usually only ask for games that score generally well.

After all, if this person is going to be spending money on me, they might as well not waste on something that turns out to be bad.

I remember getting Bubsy 3D for my eighth birthday. For my eleventh birthday I received UEFA challenge which lacked the gameplay of Pro Evo and the Licensing of Fifa. I did ask for either game and whilst growing up I was only allowed one video game a year.

hmm i recall this about the saint seya game on NES way years back lol.. i enjoyed it because it was the only game of the show
a review is still a one person opinion, check on meta critic to compare the scores, this is the safest way to chose for a new game to purchase!
