They have one called PlayStation Now. I've used it every day for the last two weeks and it sucks so bad I still don't even find it worth reporting on.
PS Now sucks compared to Game Pass. They need to make it cheaper and put way more games on there

Poor Grand Theft Auto. They keep putting it on to remove it like, two weeks later. What's the point?

Hades and Katamari Damacy are good additions. Can't wait to play 'em.

I feel like it has like no games on it unless you’re interested in playing ps3 titles. Which has its place..but isn’t worth it alone

Funny thing about all this is that Nintendo somehow manages to go by only offering some NES and SNES emulated games from decades ago while companies like Microsoft are spending millions on their gaming catalog.
Their paid service is also 1/3 the price of the Xbox / PlayStation's base online-gaming plans, comparing Switch Online to the higher end Game Pass / PlayStation Now plans is like comparing apples to oranges, really.

My gamepass trial is expiring in a couple days and I might actually keep the base subscription.

PSA: You can basically get gamepass for free (US) if you spend 5 minutes everyday doing Microsoft Rewards

Not only that, you could make a new account, spend $1 to get 1 month of gou, set as main xbox and done.
Also free multiplayer for free games like warzone, fortnite, apex and so on, its just godly service

Interesting, so they remove random games too... that's annoying. Still plenty of games there to play to justify that subscription fee rather than actually buying the one game you actually want!

Ooh, are we doing "cheaper game pass" tricks here? Can I mention the "lapse subscription entirely, buy cheaper Gold, buy a month of Ultimate, and let it all convert" one?

Paying up $6 more to have access to proper games instead of just some emulated decades old games is way more worth it, but I guess that with Nintendo you are paying up for the multiplayer aspect and not the games themselves hence it is cheaper.

This makes me wonder why Nintendo still didn't come up with a more expensive 'premium' online service type of deal with 'proper' games attached to it akin of what Microsoft and Sony are doing, maybe they just don't think it is worth doing because of the time and money they may need to put into such endeavor, I dunno.

Yeah I definitely view the Switch Online plan as basically barebones online, with some small retro offerings as a bonus (the NES/SNES lineups and Tetris 99 / Pac-Man 99)
Also, it's $20 a year. That's nothing. Hell, you can get the $35/year family plan and share with 7 other people for free. That's what I do, anyways.

Because their games sell for $60 forever, so they don't need to do that to garner a larger fanbase and make more money like, say, Xbox needs to. Might not the best for consumers, sure, but it works well for Nintendo as a corporation, because most Switch owners are gonna keep buying the $60 games.

True! Barely any content and you pay more than Game Pass!? Ridiculous
The Xbox Series X is already better because remember
Without the games, there is no game system

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
