So is this correct?

on the SD there is
nand.bin
keys.bin
installer (read me)
hacks
boot.elf
private ->wii->title->aktn->content.bin
->loc.bak
->loc.dat
bootmii->armboot.bin
->bootmii
->ppcboot.elf
apps->Gecko192->boot.elf
->icon
->meta

anything wrong with this??

Maybe TT should have waited a little while if there truly is a problem and that updating to 4.2 bricks some Wiis. If it's a serious problem I'd imagine that 4.3 would be out soon. Or maybe not.

I don't think it's likely but who knows if Nintendo would take down 4.2 only leaving 4.1 since 4.2 doesn't really accomplish the purpose that they had for it?

Can you run any other apps?

That's how Gecko is on my SD card and it works.

Sorry but I need to ask an incredibly daft question now. I've been reading HackMii and I think I know the answer but want to double check with someone who actually knows for certain.

If I update my sisters Wii with the new BootMii and HBC if one of her kids accidentally updates or does it because, well, they're kids then the 4.2 update won't delete this version of the homebrew channel? But it will overwirte the BootMii/boot2?

That's what it looks like. The safe boot2 versions that it was possible to install onto (those from launch to a year or so later I think, possibly less) are updated to boot2v4 (veerrry risky thing to do as a failure WILL result in brick) and Bootmii is wiped, never to be seen again on the system I believe. If Bootmii is installed as an IOS it will be unaffected (if installed via this new installer...I think...) Advice is still not to update as the issues need to be worked around and the only problem is the Shop Channel (would test if 4.1E can get on but I don't want to inadvertantly update and end up either bricking or un-homebrewing my Wii)

If you want or need the shop channel and stay on 4.1 then use WiiSCU, can update channels only. I did it and its working like a charm.

I have a feeling it's coming to become a cat and mouse game. Nintendo will attempt to block it and TT will change the TitleID to fix it. Then Nintendo will attempt some drastic action to block it and TT will probably find a way around it.

There doesn't seem to be any reason why it should not work.

Maybe you should try deleting your Gecko192 folder and try downloading it through the Homebrew Browser.
Doing that shouldn't change anything but sometimes things are just strange.

Nice one mate, that's what I figured but I'm not the most technical guy so thought I should ask first. Her kids know not to update but you know what they can like! lol I'm kind of wishing I'd have installed it as an IOS for her now rather than boot2. The boot2 option just seemed as though it was a more solid and integrated choice. Cheers for the help mate, I really appreciate it.

She was using the shop channel to buy VC games but I slapped the emulators on there and she doesn't use it any more so it shouldn't be a problem for her. Cheers for the info.

nope that doesnt change anything. arghhhhhh!

Does Gecko OS 1.07b work?
It's a bit further down the list of utilities in the homebrew browser.
THANK YOU. 1.07b works.

I'll probably wait to see if 1.9.3 or anything of that sort comes out and try to upgrade it then.

EDIT: When I tried to delete the 1.9.2 from the homebrew channel, it came up with
"Exception (DS1) occurred! ................... ( a lot of numbers and letters on a black screen)"

I get code dumps (sometimes) when using the delete app fucntion in homebrew channel..
also it gives me a wrong tekst, it says "would you like to return to the boring wii menu" (only in dutch), while it should ask "really wanna delete this app?" (or something).

KAPOW! Ninty tries to screw with the Homebrew People but the Homebrew People (with TT at the helm) have won!!

With SM 4.2, I see it as Nintendo screwing with millions of Wiis because of a handful of Homebrewers. wOW! Don't we feel significant!? Yeah!!

Btw, dhewg's "Silly Games" blog is a must read if you haven't http://hackmii.com/2009/09/silly_games/

Now that my righteous angst has calmed, I can finally go to sleep!

Anybody know what this means......

"P.S. ios cat iz in ur wiiz watchin ur isoz"

Its at the bottom of the bootmii readme.

That's good to hear.
Still don't see why 192 isn't working but if you're content then I guess it's fine for now.
If you can't delete Gecko 1.9.2 with your computer then there might be some corruption going on on your SD card. If there is corruption then you might want to copy what you can from it and format it and then copy the stuff back.
