If I update my sisters Wii with the new BootMii and HBC if one of her kids accidentally updates or does it because, well, they're kids then the 4.2 update won't delete this version of the homebrew channel? But it will overwirte the BootMii/boot2?
That's what it looks like. The safe boot2 versions that it was possible to install onto (those from launch to a year or so later I think, possibly less) are updated to boot2v4 (veerrry risky thing to do as a failure WILL result in brick) and Bootmii is wiped, never to be seen again on the system I believe. If Bootmii is installed as an IOS it will be unaffected (if installed via this new installer...I think...) Advice is still not to update as the issues need to be worked around and the only problem is the Shop Channel (would test if 4.1E can get on but I don't want to inadvertantly update and end up either bricking or un-homebrewing my Wii)
BlackEnigma said:Maybe TT should have waited a little while if there truly is a problem and that updating to 4.2 bricks some Wiis. If it's a serious problem I'd imagine that 4.3 would be out soon. Or maybe not.
I don't think it's likely but who knows if Nintendo would take down 4.2 only leaving 4.1 since 4.2 doesn't really accomplish the purpose that they had for it?

Nice one mate, that's what I figured but I'm not the most technical guy so thought I should ask first. Her kids know not to update but you know what they can like! lol I'm kind of wishing I'd have installed it as an IOS for her now rather than boot2. The boot2 option just seemed as though it was a more solid and integrated choice. Cheers for the help mate, I really appreciate it.![]()
QUOTE(G0dLiKe @ Sep 30 2009, 06:34 PM) If you want or need the shop channel and stay on 4.1 then use WiiSCU, can update channels only. I did it and its working like a charm.

THANK YOU. 1.07b works.BlackEnigma said:Buildingsite said:nope that doesnt change anything. arghhhhhh!
Does Gecko OS 1.07b work?
It's a bit further down the list of utilities in the homebrew browser.

I'll probably wait to see if 1.9.3 or anything of that sort comes out and try to upgrade it then.
EDIT: When I tried to delete the 1.9.2 from the homebrew channel, it came up with
"Exception (DS1) occurred! ................... ( a lot of numbers and letters on a black screen)"
