In order for me to get GX to load I had to use 56 or 57 as a base. 58 worked for WiiFlow, I didnt try 56 or 57 with WiiFlow. I have a 1.5tb with a fat32 and a WBFS partition, GX displays both partitions and seems to load most games... haven't been able to get MW3 to boot properly.

A bit off topic.. When you first boot up the Wii U with a HDD attached and asks you to format, if you select format does it give you another warning or does it format right away?

I don't know if gecko os supports out of region booting only for disc based games, but before you harm your wiiu by installing something you don't know will work or not you should try gecko os first. I know gecko os can apply cheats to channels, so it could be that it's also able to start channels of other regions. haven't used gecko os in quite a while so I don't know.

I have Gecko OS on my wii u and it does work with standard wii games, but I have no option in Gecko for channel cheats. Anyone know if it can be done yet?

Any word on savegame extraction? I forgot to extract one of my savegames from my Wii before performing a Wii U system transfer. Any idea if Waninkoko's SaveGame Extractor or SaveGame Manager GX works?

I have 2 devices that do not like base56 or 57 D2X, my 32GB patriot explorer flashdrive (formatted as WBFS [its old and was from the pre NTFS/fat32 era of USB loading])
and my 250GB Western Digital Scorpio Blue IDE 2.5in using a USB to IDE adapter with Y cable. Uses NTFS, it has multiple partitions ,"USB2" is what partition my games are on according to WiiFlow)

both worked on every Cios base used for the original Wii over the years but now, with the new 56/57 base, I end up needing to use IOS58 Base. I will keep doing that until its fixed as all my Games i have on USB run with Base58 correctly.

wii gonna be worth like $20 off ebay soon

you can have a stack of 15 off them for what 1 wii u cost

a separate thread for wii U without v wii comments would be nice

i know v wii hacking could help with wii u hacking

im sure one day it will all come full circle and we will be hacking wii u and wii u v wii inside out

but i have been having to read evey post in this thread for tiny bits of info about wii u mode

ps

feel free to flame or bann me

Yeah I found GX only works with base 56 and 57. MW3 should work on base 57 or ios 250 but I haven't tried

Hi.

Sorry for the newb question.
My only question is can we use ISO's of WiiU games and load them via an external HD like we used to do with the Wii yet?

Thanks!!

SaveGame Manager GX works fine with the vWii. You need to be sure to have already created a save file for your games on your vWii, but then you can install the saves without problems. Miis even transfer correctly using SaveGame Manager GX. SaveGame Manager GX will say that the Mii Channel doesn't have required data in its save file. You can ignore that as it will corrupt the save and when you start the Mii Channel, it will ask to format the corrupt save.

Loading of Wii U games is not possible yet and may not be for a while. Wii U mode hasn't been fully hacked yet and nobody has publicly dumped any Wii U games to disk.

I am very temted to install HBC on vWii. I have prepared a 2gb SD card and have all the files ready. But I hesitate because I am not sure about the whole process.
As far as I remember, Hackmii installer asks to install not only HBC but also BootMii and DVD functionality.I suppose that the most logical decision is to ignore everythnig except HBC and install only that.
Am I correct?

the new installer only allows installing the Homebrew Channel when run on the vWii. it will not allow you to install bootmii as IOS nor dvd functionality.

Wow it would be awesome if dolphin could be emulated on here. Keep up the work guys. Awesome.
Dolphin would be very cool indeed. GameCube games are possibly coming to Wii U Virtual Console so the Wii U should be powerful enough to emulate the GameCube. Also, it'd be nice to get full speed N64 emulation. Wii64 has made a lot of progress over the years, but the Wii's hardware is limited for emulating all N64 games at full speed. Once Wii U mode is unlocked, this should pave the way for limitless possibilities for homebrew. Imagine playing all your favorite console games (NES, SNES, N64, GameCube and maybe Wii) on the Wii U game pad. Those would be some awesome uses of the game pad.

There's no need to actually Emulate anything, as the CPUs are similar enough, with the same basic instructionsets, that Gamecube and Wii Games run "on the metal" as it were, without emulation in the strict sense. it will most likely be the original code run under a "wrapper" that just translates things like the controller inputs and video modes to that of the WiiU.

once WiiU mode is hacked and we start seeing some GC and even Wii games on the eshop, we'll probably be able to take a close look inside the wrapper, and see if we can't do some nasty things to it like Gamepad support or increasing the resolution.

EDIT: mind you, take what I say here with a few thousand granules of crystalline sodium chloride, as we know absolutely NOTHING about how it all really works.

Hi guys ! I would like to know if I can install d2x in any wii u firmware. Is vwii and wii u two things different? I'm sorry I'm new to these things.

Read the OP. vWii is Virtual Wii mode in the WiiU for running Wii software. Backwards compatibility mode.

so what all do we know about the sd processes of the wiiu? I've read many a warning that you should only insert your sd after vwii loads up or it'll attack your homebrew. I however accidently left it in (while performing an update, no less) and everything still functions fine. Has anyone thorughly tested this out? Also, how are the usb ports set up? There are 4 and it doesn't seem to matter what port my hdd is plugged into, wiiflow detects it fine. Just a curiosity.
