It would be great if the guide added 2 progress updates fields so we can do a quick check: 1 - can we run Wii U games from USB? 2 - Can we hack vWii without any wii old discs? Thanks in advance.

So you didn't read the part where it's announced that @smealum has found an IOSU hack, it's confirmed that it will need some work to be end user ready but it's there. If that's not enough for you then, well, nothing will be.

Well this thread can't be used to launch homebrew on your Wii U, if that's what you're asking. It can tell you how to do it though

Loadiine doesn't support the use of USB hard drives, no.

Plus how about usb loader gx, do I use this also?

You can use USB Loader GX, CFG USB Loader and Nintendont on the Wii U's vWii. But the vWii must be exploited with a hacked gamesave, I personally used the LEGO Indiana Jones one (indianapwns) but LEGO Batman and about four others work as well, you need the original disc games for this. I'd use a guide if I were you, so you don't break your vWii and have full WAD backups.

5.5.1 download everything and still use GXloader to load Wii U games?

I was under the impression that online functionality for any game other than Sm4sh is out of the question due to the fact Loadiine uses that game to spoof all other games. Shame really, I'd love to be able to use my Mario Kart 8 game backup online from SD card rather than off the disc because it loads a LOT faster.

Well I don't know about that but I have a legit digital copy of Splatoon that came with my Wii U (I got it when Splatoon released)
and I also have a physical copy of Mario Kart, so I want to know how can I play them online, and someone told me all I needed to
do was spoof the firmware but I'm thinking that, if Loadiine already works on the latest 5.5.1 then maybe I didn't have to spoof?
and just download the patch? I'm asking just to know for sure since I'm afraid to mess it up.

If you're talking about disc or DLC games from eShop then yeah, they work perfectly online with 5.5.1 and you can still run Loadiine through the browser exploit so there's no reason to be sitting on older firmwares. I know because I play Mario Kart 8 online a lot (feel free to add Danger0usD1amonD as I'm always looking for new people to challenge). Basically regular games work online, but Loadiine games only Sm4sh works as is my understanding.

One should not be waiting for Backups and homebrew to buy a console.

Especially since the NX is getting announced in.. what, 6 hours?

Go buy a Wii U, Already. (And some Games while you're at it!)

Buy a Wiiu.... it is the last Nintendo console (for now) which seems to have backwards compatibility with the WII and gamecube (through Nintendont).

Backups have been able to be played on the WiiU for about a year, now. It's just primarily limited by the fact that you can only load games off an SD card. (And since We're talking about games upwards of 20-25GB a pop in some cases..)
