So... I haven't had a PS2 in years or know the first thing about hacking. So help me.

I don't want the job to require me to download lots of stuff, something that's simple to set up so I can played burned .iso's.

I know there are SwapMagics and all that out there, but I don't have some of the games or whatever to play the burned backup, so I'm thinking a ModChip is best.

Any insight is appreciated. And for the love of god, don't say "get a PS3 lol" or any stupid crap like that.

Free McBoot only took me about an hour to set up, head over to sksapps and see which games can install it

Since its christmas time and Ive seen you a lot on this forum. I am gonna send you a freemcboot memory card by mail if you pm me your address. Then after youll just have to decide whether you send it back(after you install it on yours takes 1 min) or give me a bit of money for it.

Or you can pick up an AR/Codebreaker from Futureshop, use that to install FreeMcBoot, then return it the next day.

The best investment you can make is in a network adapter. They run about 20USD on eBay, and will allow you to store and run games from an IDE drive inside the console. This pretty much eliminates load times, patching, disc swapping, laser wear, and many other annoyances you'll experience otherwise.

Sell the Slim, buy a Fat and network adapter.

Not going to happen to dude.

So what does FreeMcBoot do exactly? Do I need any other peripherals or how do I play back up games with it?

Hmm... I don't know dude, how do I know this isn't a scam?

Its a memory card mod that will lets you run homebrew. The principal homebrew is ESR which lets you play patched iso backups that make the console think its a movie but works awesome.

Actually I don't lock the doors. But wait, if I'm going to use it, aren't I going to have to keep it to keep tricking the PS2?

Me neither... No thats the beauty of freeMCboot once you have it, its really really really easy to install it to other memory cards.
Its nothing like wii hacking but it get 95% of backup going without doing anything at all to your console. And the other 5% you can still get with cogswap (like swap magic but with a ps2 original) but the you would need to do the same like swap magic and to block the sensors on your console.

Modchips are cheap nowadays and theyare 100% + ps1 but youd need soldering skills recommended if you are good .

Why not? You'll have an infinitely better piracy experience.

Because I don't want a fat PS2 perhaps? Perhaps that nobody is going to buy a PS2 I know? Perhaps I prefer PS2 slim over PS2 fat.
All silly reasons next to the vast advantages to HDLoader.

If you're not going to help at all, stop posting. I don't give a shit about Fat PS2's. I've had bad experiences with them. kthnxbi.

I'm trying to help, but you seem immune to logic and reason.

I'll leave you to your ignorance.

You're not trying to help. You're saying "get a fat ps2".

That's not helping at all because that's not what I need help with. I need help hacking a slim ps2.

A Fat PS2 removes your original problem, and presents a new problem with a much better outcome.

In addition, you've already been provided all the information needed to hack your Slim PS2 (you seem to be able to Google as shown by the tutorial you posted) so this is merely another option, which I feel is a much better one.

If I wanted another option, I would've asked "so should I get a PS2 fat or PS2 slim for hacking". But I asked for hacking on PS2 slim, not ps2 fat.
