Hacking hacking advice

so i am new to xbox hacking with the exception of hacking my wii.

currently i have a xbox 360 slim
dashboad; 2.0.14719.0
mfr date; 2011-07-20

and would like to know my options for hacking, i dont use my console online and would like to play downloaded game from pc transferred to external HD

any help would be great

If you want to play from hdd, then your options from that lot are either RGH or Xk3y.

As you don't care about online, I would recommend RGH.

If you only want to play games from an external then get a Xkey.

I still don't get it why people insist on using an external for a jTAG/RGH.
The internal drive is way quicker and it's more compact.

the reason for the external drive is because i only have the 4gb 360 and know nothing about hacking this console

Nah the external with RGH/jTAG was just a complaint about some people.

As for you.
I should get an Xkey (it's much more simpler in terms of updating then a RGH)
And if you only want to play games then it's also much easier.

Just patch with ABGX (takes 10 mins?) and drag and drop to the HDD.

Nope you can't.

It's either a RGH or an Xkey.

RGH is 20 quid for the chip alone.
Then you'll either need a Jrunner programmer or NAND-X

Along with soldering skills and a bit of knowledge about hacked xboxes.

JTAG has been patched since dash 8599 iirc.
Atleast 7371 was the last one jTAGgable.

So yes it's bullshit.
Every 360 hack needs hardware, otherwise it would be listed in my thread

Also looking for some advice and this seems like a good thread.

I have bought a Phat second hand and am waiting for it to be delivered. I know that it's flashed. I don't know what it's flashed with, what chip it is etc.

I asked the guy I'm buying it from if i can load games from external HDD but he doesn't know, says he's always burnt games to disc.

What's my best course of action for doing what I need to do for getting games loaded from HDD? I can of course wait and try it but just trying to be prepared for when it arrives.

Appreciate any tips from the experts.

I assume it's on the latest dash.
So your only option is to get an Xkey.

You'll need the DVD key to make it work so I hope the seller gives you the DVD key otherwise you'll need to extract that as well.

Thanks Dinoh. No idea which dash its on, will need to wait til I receive the console. If ts not on latest dash does that increase my options as to how to get it playing from external hdd?

If it's on 14719 or lower then it's RGHable, but you'll loose XBLive.
Otherwise you'll need to get an Xkey.
Which can be used on dash 1888 till 16202 (it's unlikely you'll get a 360 which has a dash lower then 8xxx)

Besides RGH consoles have the ability to have games on the internal drive which is quicker.

I've asked the seller if he has the DVD key, if not is this something you extract with jtag or something?

Yep.
Screw the console open, plug it in, set up the microSD and reassemble.


You'll need to extract it with hardware and Jungleflasher.
Or send the DVD drive to someone who is willing to extract it.
