Guitar or Piano?

I have been wanting to learn one of them, and I can't decide what to do. I just want to know what you like.

Which one of the two do you like better?

Well I learned piano first so I'm gonna say that. Many things that you learn on the piano could translate to other instruments when you get to them. It is a good foundation.

Piano. I've always loved it, though that's not to say that I hate guitars or anything. Anyone Can Play Guitar. You can grow out your hair and be Jim Morrison.

Piano gives you the best mental (and physical, for that matter) preparation for learning any other instrument in the collection of normal western instruments. You'll do better to learn piano first, even though you won't be playing "cool songs" as soon. In the end you'll be a better guitarist (and overall musician) for it.

Several years spent on both ill suggest you'll enjoy guitar more but you will become much more skilled at music in general if you learn piano.

Learn the piano. Trust me, girls are way more impressed with how you can tickle those ivories than if you wrote a two chord song about her on your acoustic.

From what you guys are saying, guitar is fun and cool, but piano will make you a better musician and the ladies love it.

I think piano is harder to get good at, as in to play cool songs but I am not sure. I have never played guitar before.

You will get quicker results with piano.

Knowing nothing about it, but having some basic musical knowledge, I was able to learn the treble part of the SMB theme in like 2 days.

Pianos good for learning the notes and stuff so I'd suggest learn that first

I think the piano is a much better choice. Guitar is so...bleh. It's so overrated. It seems like everyone wants to be a "rocker" now, and they think learning the guitar will make them cool. I think learning classical music on the piano is a lot funner. Plus, piano sheet music is very easy to find for, let's say, video game songs, anime songs, classical songs, whatever.

I actually always wanted to learn the piano... but I never had the chance. I play the cello though :3
