I`ve read about a mod that increases the framerate of the games. Especially im looking for the one for Vice City, because the framerate drops so often. But where to find that mod? I cant find it here, or did i overlook it? On top of that: are all these mods the people talk about in this thread working without overclocking or is it necessary to overclock?

IMO it's necessary to overclock to enjoy the games at a stable framerate in their current state.

Don't be afraid of it, according to DigitalFoundry's analysis it's safe to do and a max CPU OC only increases chip temps 4°C and power consumption from 15-19W. The Switch is already underclocked by default, anyway.

~mods. Second address.
Please don't share wrong information that ~mods folder is a must. Already explained that in this thread.
Just copy Gameface folder from zipped mod to correct contents folder.

So

Between his two options asked in his question...I answered option 2, not that it is a must. That's what works for me, with these paks. But sorry, yes he should read all posts before.

Wait... You mean if I overclock to max cpu it will not destroy my battery life?
Only cpu not gpu etc?

I think he only meant that it is safe to overclock, but if you play handheld, overclocking will still destroy your battery life. I overclocked mine at 1224 CPU, 460 GPU, and 1600 memory and I can only play for 1.5-2 hours before needing a charge.

so basically if I fear about battery condition I can't overclocking my switch ? even in docked mode ?

if you’re playing docked then its fine.
I’m just talking about how long your battery will last if you play handheld
I am sorry I'm not English native. I was talking about "lifespan" or lifetime.

For example if I play overclocked my switch may die in 6 months instead of 3 years?

I can’t speak for anyone else, but for me personally, I’ve been using my switch constantly overclocked for the past 3 years and its still fine.

I wouldn't call overclocking "safe" nor would I ever recommend a max overclock . all the claims of it being "safe" (especially the "i've done it for x amount of years with no issues") are purely anecdotal you can definitely do damage if you mindlessly just max overclock everything all the time. no it won't be instant but it will happen. as long as you have a brain and don't just overclock simply because you can (which I see people on here do A LOT) you will be fine though. hell I always make sure to underclock my switch to the minimum when i'm not using it.

also some people just hit the silicon lottery and others dont. It will worsen your battery life and it will degrade hardware over time. this is fact. there is a reason people undervolt their pcs and laptops

That means it's better to underclock than over.
For example do you know the underclock settings for this gta trilogy to run same as default settings?

Google Pixel C features higher clocks, worse heat design, passive cooling, just conductive foam and it never had any heat issues, unlike the previous Nvidia Shield.

Maybe governor is more aggressive (Pixel C Android version didn't have DOZE back then), but I think X1 design is robust enough.

this just shows the fallacy of people thinking heat is the ONLY issue of overclocking
