GTA 6 leaks

What's crazy is the leaker supposedly sent messages to Rockstar directly even, claiming they can't catch him because he uses a VPN, like antagonising it on. Yes a VPN helps, but big corps with endless money, and federal court orders, a VPN can't hide your digital footprint completely. I'm curious where this goes, if the leaker will be found. My guess is it is a formal employee that was able to sneak out a build somehow.

"Good luck, I'm behind 7 proxies" IRL?

It would've been pretty stupid if he was caught using Windows to share the videos, because Microsoft can just simply track him using the same GDID system that was used to catch a cybercriminal. That is why Linux is the way to go.

I'm curious as to how this all goes if that does ever occur.

Some of us was right all along. I watched the footage for myself and it's so generic that you can slap any title on-top and nobody will notice. I think the major hits to Rockstar's development has to be both the union busting scandal and layoffs of the original team. Doesn't really feel the same, and that, in addition to their stock price tanking, means that it's probably going to be review bombed on launch from angry long-time players of the GTA series because it's just not that good.
I honestly don't understand what you're on about. Are you talking about the gameplay or the looks? Again, I don't think the gameplay speaks for itself as it's, as you put it, generic, no mission was played, and what was seen doesn't hugely differ from the prequel. I think they've done well in terms of graphics, albeit having less of an impact now that many other game developers have caught up in terms of graphics and style since V.

No, in two of the videos, the leaker used a clip from a cutscene from the game with one of the main characters saying something in those lines. It was mockery and for a dark web forum user, they probably know better and wouldn't seriously state that.

is it illegal to share recorded footage of you playing something? if he got the game by legal means and didn't accept some terms of service agreement i dont see how they can go after him.

if he had an agreement with rockstar that is a totally different story and they would have a shortlist to figure out who it was.

He could've just knew a Rockstar employee who has it, or unless they worked at a store which had gotten copies earlier before the release date. Doesn't appear that Rockstar had another breach to my knowledge.

I admit when I first saw the videos, it don't look much different/ better than gta5. But if it is only a 2023 beta build, that's not too surprising. The videos themself are not of great quality to begin with. But I'm sure it will be good regardless. I'm hyped and ready. Preordered and waiting. Not looking forward to the huge file size required though probably. May have to clear some space on the xboxie.

NDA leaker? Probably not, but that would have probably lead to instant busting.

What do you mean by "legal means"? I'm certain that the only legal means of sharing NDA-protected material is if someone already leaked it first.

The game is not physical, so that can't be (probably). If Lapsus leak is anything to go by, it was probably a case of tricking an employee (e.g. by social engineering) rather than voluntarily having them leak something.

I'd actually compare it to RDR2 more, particularly the cloud tech looks extremely similar. Also note that the leaked videos have some shitty colour filters applied to them, probably in post after recording the video. Should go without saying, but I thought I'd point it out nevertheless.

I watched some of it too, and yeah, some parts looked pretty ordinary, but there were also details that looked impressive. I think the real test will be the finished game with the full missions, AI, world interactions and story. Right now people are trying to judge the whole game from scraps of development footage.

It depends of what you mean by "legal means". If the leaker is a developper, then it is an obvious violation of the NDA.

However, I've once been told of a case. An animator who was working on a Disney animation movie who had invited guest at home. She didn't secure her computer and left footage she was working on on her desktop. One of her guest recorded the footage with their cellphone and later shared it with online friends (who obviously shared it worldwide). Even though the animator didn't leak the footage themselve, they were still held liable as a breach of NDA contract. Lawsuits incurred, and today, she is blacklisted from the entire industry.

That is almost as tragic as Toy Story 2 rm -rf / story.

Granted though, I don't recall a statement that anyone got fired or blacklisted as a result of the TS2 wipe, but getting blacklisted from the whole industry for having selfish guests is a really unfair way to end a career.

I can :ha:
I'm just not seeing the 2 billion dollars they (reportedly) spent on the game. The visuals are fine but even if they do look better than other AAA titles from the last five years or more, I'm just not seeing it. Maybe when the PS6 comes out.
It went towards knowing which Gpus wouldn't fry.

so this is the game everyone went out to buy a new 65" tv for?! :rofl2:
No this is the game pirates like you are wishing was leaked to PC, because its not coming to PC for a few years, so you will act like you didn't want to play it anyways, and trash talk about it until then. But secretly, you lie in bed thinking about it every night.
