I totally thought they were talking about the Dolphin browser...

But this is pretty cool, I guess.
MakimanPR loves to think that he'll be able to emulate GC games on Android devices in a few months. I say 2-3 years, instead.

And to think, 3-4 weeks ago you could have ordered one and it'd be with you right now.
I thought the same exact thing yesterday :(

Did anyone got the update on their Nexus device ? Because my Nexus 4 tells me i'm on the latest update, yet i'm on 4.2.2 is it because Google is still deploying the update ?

It is so sad the Dreamcast is always skipped or ignored. Now that one is more possible to run at full or decent speed. Just look at the leaked alpha version of the dreamcast emu; it runs pretty good on quad core devices.

I tested 4.3 a month or so back on galaxy s4, when the S4 GE firmware leaked out, seemed a bit faster and not having all the bloatware helped too, i prefer the vanilla roms especially if not custom, as Samsung have half fulled the phone with crap on purchase

Update: Google has posted the firmware images for Android 4.3 on their website, so you can download and update manually instead of waiting for the OTA, though there’s no image for the Galaxy S4.

OpenGL ES 3.0 won't give 300% performance boosts and I can't honestly see why they guys behind the Dolphin port trust so much in it.

Actually, It basically will.
Dolphin gets barely 1FPS on a Galaxy S3, (mainly because Dolphin relies on OpenGL ES 3.0)
This will probably boost the FPS to around 5FPS or even higher for the Galaxy S3.
The author's hopes are that future hardware will be able to run at more realistic framerates.

this is actually why i favor compatibility over speed. because eventual hardware will make up for the speed!

Wait, who wants to play Wii and Gamecube games on their phone with shitty touch controls?
Not that I'm defending Wii emulation, but Wii emulation makes more sense on Android than it does the other systems.

Even ignoring Wii-mote bluetooth pairing, the touch screen could emulate IR inputs near-perfectly, and like the Wiimote, most mobile devices have gyro sensors.
And alot of Wii games don't use all the buttons of the Wiimote+nunchu, and 3D analog controls are more-or less acceptable on touch devices. Games like New Super Mario Bros or Klonoa are perfect for tablet/phone based Wii emulation.

ES 3.0 introduces only two-three important new functions, and I'm sure they aren't THAT critical for Dolphin for them to not be reimplemented in 2.0.

The devs are way too lazy to convert their code and they're waiting for 3.0 so that they avoid reprogramming graphic functions.

Anyway, "hoping for future devices" goes for itself, they'll get so powerful that even if they were still 2.0, Dolphin would still run well on them.

tl;dr: ES3.0 isn't a game changer

It's still not available OTA for the Nexus 4 yet. I guess they're sending it out around the world bit by bit, I think I'll get it before the end of the day...

This exactly. Of course recently there's been thousands of gamepad thingies for every phone model, ouya, gamestick, xperia play, etc. so getting controller with same amount of buttons as NGC shouldn't be problem.
Still use mainly my PSP for emulation and consoles that aren't handheld or 2D ones I emulate on PC as handheld would downscale them in every way.

Of course it's technical advancement forward but still useless for long time.

OP didn't mention that Google Play Games (Play games hihihihi) is also released: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.play.games
