Well, today Google acquired the well known mail client for Mac OS X(and more recently the iPhone) that goes by the name of Sparrow.
Sparrow started out as a client JUST for Gmail, had support for all of Gmail's features. I've been using it since February.

But today, the Sparrow team has announced that it's now part of Google. Normally I'd be excited about this, but I'm not. mainly because the client is basically dead now.

They said they'll keep supporting what they've already created, but won't be adding any new features to the clients(The last part was in the email they sent all their users.)

(BBCode tags give me a hard time always for some reason.... Even though I'm doing them correctly.)

Nothing is wrong with the current android gmail app. Simple is sometimes best. I don't want or need some fancy app for my email.
This has nothing to do with Android Gmail... Also. sparrow is all about simplicity.

If I had to guess why Google wanted Sparrow it's because they want to improve their own Gmail apps on Mac OS X and iOS.

My first thought was Google bought this chap

If it's got so many features now, why does it need more? So it becomes "abandonware", it's still perfectly usable, right? Hell, half the time, older versions of stuff is BETTER.

Nope. I have not watched the pirates. I have played kingdom hearts 2 however, so I do recognize the costume. But what does a pirate have to do with the topic?
