Hi all!

I've done a bit of HTML for about a month, and I wanted to launch my own website! I thought about getting a domain (my dad said he can buy it) but there wasn't much documentation on exactly how it works and how to link/deploy it.

Tunnels might work (I don't know), but that will probably give me a generic address. CloudFlare pages give me a nice domain, but they add the start of my email, which is my full name so I don't really want that. And GitHub pages needs me to pay $48 a year :(

So, any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

So first of all, the domain and the web host don't have to be the same, for example my personal domain just links to my home IP address and I use it for different things e.g. self hosted VPN.

Although I wouldn't advise self hosting a website unless you know what you're doing and I have to pay annually for said domain (about $19).

As for cloudflare, couldn't you just create a new email account?

Make sure to check for potential hidden costs, for example, if you have to pay a certain amount if there's a high amount of traffic which can happen thanks to e.g. bots.

There may be some completely free service which provides both a domain and web hosting, I used one a couple of decades ago where I just had to drag and drop the website onto it but I can't recall the name of it.

Edit:

Is this website intended for public consumption or purely for personal use?

I was thinking hopefully public, but I'm happy for it to be on my home network as long as it has a custom url, instead of my server IP.

I could make a new email for CloudFlare, but I'm keen to explore other options too to learn.

If you can remember the name of the site that would be great! Self-Hosting publicly isn't something that I would do for the long run.

Recommend to check domain at :download: It really cheap there :)
I've had a look there, but how would I use the domain once I get it? Is there easy documentation or is it a learning process. What hosting provider do I use?

Russia, Nintendo cant get you there.
How can I host a website for free in Russia? Why would I need to hide from Nintendo?

we ALL should hide from Nintendo 😐 😭

oh...so need to explain from the beginning
nah it too long...

The easiest way is buy the both shared hosting and domain at namecheap the cheapest plane (Stellar) 48$ a year and at will connect the domain to hosing automatic :/

or buy only domain (If you just want to try I recommend .site it cheap just 0.98 $ a year (only the first years))
and use free google web builder and point the dns there.

there is a document here
