Hi Guys,

For the past 2 days i have read almost every tutorial here, how more i read how more complicated it begins to come. I'm new to the Nintendo DS scene so there is allot to understand, 15 years ago i was active in the PSP scene as member Undertaxxx so maybe a few guy's will remember me. These days we have CFW from Dark_Alex and that was just flashing the PSP console from the SDcard, similar to the DS CFW, but daim there are allot more things going on in the Nintendo DS scene.

I'm going to buy a 2DS Mario Kart 7 EUR Pack so let's hope there will be a firmware on lower than 9.3. I did some research and that pack was launched in Europe on 17-10-2014, the 9.3 update was released 08-12-2014 so almost two months after the pack was released, i hope this will be the evidence that there is a firmware lower then 9.3 on the 2DS Mario Kart 7 Pack.

Once i have the console i going to try getting a CFW on it using the great and detailed tutorial from "Samiam144", thanks allot for the great guide btw ! I just have a few questions that are not so clear. First of all, where is the most risk in the process of hard bricking the 2DS console ? Also i guess wen you are in the EmuNAND there is no change of hard bricking the console because it's the emulated NAND.

Like i said, i read allot the last 2 days and i see allot of things like Sysnand, Emunand, DevMenu, HaxMenu, etc, for a new guy to the scene that is allot of info to process. If i use this guide step by step i will have a CFW and HaxMenu & DevMenu, what exactly is the different between both and why need both of them. If i understood, Sysnand is the NAND of the console itself and the EmuNAND is the emulated NAND so you can play games that need a higher firmware then 9.2 and also get access to the Eshop ?

Sorry for all the questions and hope you guy's will clear some things out for this newbie ! :)

Just to clarify: 3DSs, 3DS XLs and 2DSs = o3DS and new3DS, new3DS XL = n3DS. You use 3DSs only when you're summarizing both o3DSs and n3DSs.

You're going to just confuse people if you refer to 3DSs as DSs.

MenuHax is an entrypoint, with it you can use Homebrew Launcher from the boot of your o3DS, and coldboot CFW. DevMenu is a CIA installer, for install games (piracy) and Homebrews. There is not only DevMenu, you can also use FBI, BigBlueMenu (a fork of DevMenu if i remember), NASA...

Don't forget to use a "Big" sd Card for Emunand (depend of your needs, i have a lot of games and i use a 16go class 10 sdcard)

Guy's,

Just recieved my 2DS (o3DS) with SW 8.1.0-19E. I can just leave it with that SW or upgrade to 9.2 ?

Menuhax is not coldboot though

Guy's,

Any change you can answer my previous question about the SW version ? Btw, whats the difference between a Coldboot & Menuhax ? Thx !

Er.. Coldbooting is a term, meaning things (such as hax) happen at boot.

Menuhax is a type of entry point.

Also, yes, it's recommended to be on 9.2.

Thanks for the quick response ! Btw, is there someone info how to upgrade to a specific SW version ? Because if i update true OTA (Nintendo Server) i will get the latest SW version. Thx !

I don't recall what version started to include dummy browsers on carts, but you can probably update to 9.2 with a cart.

If you don't have any carts, you can try updating go 9.2 with sysUpdater.

What you mean with a "Cart", a game or ? Btw, i found a guide on Youtube, is that a good one or ? Also in the details he say's "THIS DOESN'T WORK ON GATEWAY MODE! YOU'LL BRICK YOUR 3DS! Use a CFW or other method", whats a GATEWAY ? Is that a flashcard or ? Sorry for all the questions guy's, you're great people !

PS: So i guess that you say better use SW 9.2 instead of SW 8.1 is that the CFW is more stable on 9.2 or are there other reasons ?

I can't watch the video as I'm not home, but yeah from what you described it should work.

By cart I do mean physical game. Also ignore the gateway message.

2DS is comfy as fuck! if I didn't own a 3DS XL, I'd so buy one! They're pretty damn cheap and most brand new ones are guaranteed on a firm below 9.2.
it's just too small for a big hand male user:)

n3dsxl is a handy console, from one of my friends with big hands:).

Yeah i buyed the 2DS mario kart 7 pack special for the lower SW. Now out of the box it's SW 8.1 but Superster131 say it's better to be on SW 9.2 for CFW. So now i didn't get it anymore, tutorials says you can use from SW 6.X up to SW 9.2 so didn't get why 8.1 is not good enough.
