Hacking Going online, while using a supercard dstwo?

I have been using a dstwo for a week or so now and really like it.

I have a dsi XL with 1.4.1. When I got the card I went into the dsi's options and disabled wifi.
I really don't know if this is necessary to do or not. Most of the games seem to have online features, and even the dsi's browser may be of use some time.
Does anyone know if the dsi will auto update its firmware? That is biggest reason I turned the wireless off. I was afraid it would update to new firmware and the card would be useless til a fix came out.

Basically is it safe to connect to the internet using a dstwo is my question

There's no auto-update for the DSi/XL, games can't force or even require an update, in fact not even the browser will tell you to update. Only the shop channel.

So yeah, basically when somebody DOES manage to update anyways somehow they get laughed at.
