Is there anyway to get back to completely unmodified 3DS full stock firmware after following plailects guide?

I'm pretty sure I made some sort of backup following the guide.

I was on 4.5fw when I started the guide but after installing everything in the guide I updated my system firmware to the current. I'd like to go back to the stock 4.5 firmware I was on before I did all the cfw and stuff. Any ideas on a step by step tutorial to get everything back like it was out of the box?

I have to ask. Why do you want to do this?

I messed alot of things up during the install and I've had a new sd card. My mind won't rest unless I can do the install again on a fresh system on the fresh sd.

Simply restore the backup you made at the beginning of the guide.

Could you post the instructions and will that take me back to 4.5fw?

If you got the OTP bin already (i'm assuming you do) then you don't need to do the whole installation process again btw. No need to risk another downgrade process even though its more or less foolproof now.

edit: apparently you don't even need a OTP bin anymore.

If you made the backup on 4.5, yes. I do have to mention though that dimmidice is correct, and you probably shouldn't do this, but if you want to, nobody can stop you :).

Simply boot into Hourglass9 (hold a certain button on boot probably, not 100% sure as I don't have an a9lh 3ds next to me), then navigate to Sysnand Backup and Restore. You want to restore the first backup you made, before you started a9lh. Here's the relevant documentation on the options, to help you better understand what they do:

(Sys/Emu)NAND Backup & Restore...: This contains multiple options to backup or restore your SysNAND or EmuNAND. The submenu contains the following entries:
  • NAND Backup: Dumps the NAND.bin file from your SysNAND or the ÈmuNAND.bin file from your EmuNAND. This is a full backup of your 3DS System NAND and can be used to restore your 3DS SysNAND / EmuNAND to a previous state or for modifications.
  • NAND Backup (minsize): Same as the above option, but only dumps the actually used size of the NAND (the remainder is only unused data). Use this instead of the above to save some space on your SD card.
  • NAND Restore(!): This fully restores your SysNAND or EmuNAND from the provided NAND.bin file (needs to be in the/files9/ work folder or in the SD card root). Although backups will be checked before restoring, be careful not to restore a corrupted NAND.bin file. Also note that you won't have access to this feature if your SysNAND is too messed up or on a too high FW version to even start Decrypt9 (should be self explanatory).
  • NAND Restore (forced)(!): Same as the above option, but skips most safety checks. This is not recommended to be used without being properly informed. Keep in mind that, if the above option stops you from restoring a NAND backup, it is normally with good reason and means a prevented brick.
  • NAND Restore (keep a9lh)(!): Only available on SysNAND, this is the same as the standard (unforced) restore option, but keeps all your arm9loaderhax files intact. Only use if you actually have arm9loaderhax installed.
  • Validate NAND Dump: Use this to check and verify NAND dumps on your SD card. If this check passes on a NAND dump, you will also be able to restore it via the standard restore option.

Ok thanks I'm going to stick the backup of my nand I made before all this into the files9 folder on the sd card and do a restore to it, I should be back on 4.5fw then. I will do a system memory format and then start the install again. I do have some OTP files but they are only a few kbs so not sure if they are correct and or how to use them

I tried doing this today but the only option is to do a nand restore with the 'keep a9lh' option. There is no other options

To restore without keep a9lh you need to use decrypt9 instead of hourglass9.

I've been trying to install decrypt9 but I can't seem to get it to boot into it. I've put the dcrypt.bin file into my luma/payloads folder on the sd card but it wil just boot into hourglass still and if I delete the hourglass file in the same folder it will just boot to the home menu?

Rename it to start_Decrypt9.bin. Hold start then boot your system and you're in Decrypt9.

I guess it's because of people still wanting to use their yt account (with vanced)?
