Hello, I'm looking to buy some new DL DVDs and I'm wondering if I should go for the standard inkjet hub printable matte or pay a bit more for the glossy inkjet hub printable. Any opinions?

Thanks!!!

There is no answer to this question. It's personal preference. Do you want flat or shiny? Neither is better then the other. It's like comparing apples to oranges.

for single layer, my discs of choice are the taiyo-yuden with water shield which have a nice high gloss and the printable surface goes all the way to the hub. fantastic media.
in fact, after printing you can run them under water (haven't tried a dishwasher yet) and the image will not smear or fade.

however, I haven't found anything similar in the DL arena. the printable DL's were that I did pick up were the ridata's which had a matte white and smaller printable surface.

MATT tends to ABSORB the ink more and dries fairly quick too maby down to the absorbtion

GLOSSY needs to be left a little bit longer to DRY fully

just make sure you get actual PRINTABLE ones ... some sites sell disks that are supposed to be PRINTABLE and when you do print on them it just wipes straight off

buy from a reputable retailer.. one that will let you exchange or return any unused packs of disks if theres an issue
