Actually yes. There's something called the Gaia Hypothesis, invented by some guy forgot his name, but he says that the earth is like a giant organism and it's eventually going to try and kill off what's causing the problem. Think of it like a dog's paw trying to itch the fleas off of its neck.

Basically, the earth is going to try and itch us out!

By the way, it's also incorrect to call it global warming now, cause the effects aren't the same everywhere. It's now known as "global climate change".
