I've had my DS Lite for nearly a year and have noticed ghosting on certain games (particularly platform games). I tried Super Mario Bros 3 on nesDS and the ghosting is terrible. Anyone else have this problem?

"ghosting"?
Do you mean that an image stays on the screen well after something else has appeared or you turned off the DS, or what? Because when you turn off my DS phat, the image that was on the screen last stays there for a while and slowly fades away...

No, I didn't. I searched for it on Gamefaqs and a few people have the same problem.

I dont have ghosting but I have this "problem". The image in the right part of the screen takes a few seconds to fade when I turn the ds off.

the ds lite screen does have ghosting which is pretty bad compared to the ds phat screen... its not as bad as the psp screen though... likely it has gone unnoticed as people did not bother about it...

yeah, ghosting is really subjective.....it bothers some people and other don't notice it at all. I have a lite and had a PSP and didn't notice ghosting at all.

I was playing Ninja Gaiden (through nesDS) and the background changes colour slightly when I move. Does it do the same for any of you?

Yep, I get the ghosting. Happened on my old DS and my DSlite. It's not severe enough to bother me though.

Yes, many games that weren't originally designed for a handheld (various emu's) have odd changes in color on some graphics when the screen scrolls. I figure it's normal and that there isn't much (if anything) we can do about it. It likely has something to do with the fact that the images are scaled down to fit the DS screen. That and the screens don't have the greatest response time.

Afterimage effects on the screens when you shut off the DS are generally normal too. It doesn't do it on EVERY DS though. It's just a slight variance in the components that power the screen. Don't even worry about that. In fact, I believe ones that DO leave the afterimage for a few seconds are superior in that the component that powers the screen is over-efficient.

Thanks for the info Rayder. I also get ghosting on Yoshi's Island DS and Super Mario World (GBA). Do you?

There seems to be different anomalies on different DS Lite's version. Pink and yellow touch screens, loose/unresponsive buttons, cracked hinge - to name a few.
