Impossible.
Where would it save to?
When you go into GameCube mode, the Wii has physical limits. It's basically only a GameCube.
It shuts off all Wii hardware.
It is also 'impossible' for the Wii/GameCube to read DVD-R discs, but it has been hacked. I wouldn't be so sure that saving to the front SD slot won't eventually be possible.
You'd be very naive to think everything works like that; per se with that logic:
It is also 'impossible' for the bread toaster to toast a bagel, but it has been hacked.
It is also 'impossible' for the DVD to "burn" data to a disc, but it has been hacked.
It is also 'impossible' for people to be stupid, but the gene pool has been hacked.
ad infinitum with the silly ideals.
What ends up happening when you click "Start" when it reads a Gamecube disc, the only thing being used is the MIOS.
This means the Wii is limited to main Gamecube operations.
You can't use a Wii Remote, you can't use the SD card slot, et cetera.
The only reason it is able to read burnt games is because there is a special signature that differentiates a legitimate game from a burnt copy.
In dissecting the MIOS, it's possible to remove that need of that signature and any game.
Use Any Title Deleter and remove the MIOS.
Put in a burnt game.
What do you know, it shows up as a Gamecube game.
Unless anyone has devised a way to run Gamecube games without the MIOS limitations or in (lol) Wii mode,
I'd say our outlook on something like that is slim to none.
If you want to save games on an SD card, just get an SD Gecko or one of those similar devices, they don't cost much.
I doubt it's possible for now to even think about routing where the data is saved from a GC card to the SD front.
Even though new and new ideas are coming up, we're about to reach a plateau. I do not doubt the skills of the
gentlemen here, but only the limitations set by the great Nintendo overlords.
