Was that before or after your discussions on global thermonuclear war and domination?Â

Ummm... after. Cannon fodder and all.

Some of these ideas sound great... There's too many to discuss in one meeting, but we'll keep doing them...

-Tempest out.-

I've known Kivan since the begining of the GBA scene.

We hung out in the GBXemu forum together and It was always a race to see who would upload and post the roms for the GBXemu members.

Then Kivan developed a following at GBXemu and started his own rom site
(went through a few different hosts in its lifespan)

The GBA scene was lots of fun back then.

Don't worry, there are no active links on the site below (The original GBATemp design/layout was very cool.

Old GBATemp Site

Congrats to the folks that were promoted!

I have always been a quiet member so I guess I just got overlooked.

I'll still be around, but without my coveted moderator status

im glad i am not a mod. imagine how much time you'd have to spend here!

suggestion: next time you need a mod let's have a vote, the admins suggest some proper candidates and then let the board decide through a poll. that'd be cool.

What's wrong with spending a lot of time here?

QUOTEsuggestion: next time you need a mod let's have a vote, the admins suggest some proper candidates and then let the board decide through a poll. that'd be cool.

I very much doubt that would happen. It could turn into a popularity contest, or people could just vote for the sake of voting and the people who deserve to be a mod wouldn't get it. Choosing mods would be a staff decision. Right at this very moment no new mods are needed we are still seeing how all the new Globals do. But incase new mods are needed sometime in the future we have a little list of a few people we are looking at. That was also part of the staff meeting.

Tanner: We thought you'd left us, actually... and KiVan rarely shows up here anymore, surprisingly... but it is still nice to hear from you. The funny part is that website still occasionally gets people posting in the guestbook (it's been linked about six times here too)...

The reasoning we applied when pruning the modlist was a bit harsh, but was based mostly on activity -- an active forum needs active mods. If you show up a bit more, given how KiVan trusted you enough to make you a mod, you'd probably hit mod again. If you'd rather take time for your own life rather than dedicate lots of time to a website, then that's perfectly fine, and now there's no responsibility of such a huge forum hanging over your head.

Good luck in the coming year.

Inu: The original rules before member titles were added used member titles to represent staff positions. Tanner's the only remaining proof of this, though, since every other mod either has more than 500 posts or joined after the initial modding.

We had the discussion about voting for mods before... it was agreed by everyone that the staff decide on this.

-Tempest out.-

its way better to have the staff to decide the mods...although(is this word right?)i see no need to for new mods, since now we got a lot of global moderators here.....

Congrats to the new Global Mods, keep it up! To the rest of the staff, thanks for keeping this great site going and more or less trouble free!

Tanner, I just wanted to say I admire your attitude! The community needs more people with such a respectful positive outlook. It is quite refreshing to see such a positive response to what some might have seen as a personal attack. I hope we see more of you.

Also, congratulations on the new home and your new baby girl!

May your new year continue to bring you great joy and happiness!

I stumbled on this forum when I was looking for game releases a couple months ago. I decided to join gbatemp on a whim, as I am not a huge forum dood. This site though, is modded and maintained better than any other forum I've ever seen. So I think any decisions made by this group won't be a bad or wrong one. I don't know a lot about running things like this, but I know that it's a labor of love, not profit. So congrats to the promoted, I'm sure you all deserved it. I'm looking forward to remaining here for a while; the community here is great!!!
