Hardware gba link cable rewire

just wondering if it is possible to rewire a gba to gba cable with a gamecube controller cable to make a gba to gamecube so i can do a link with a zelda game
with the gba cable i have the following collared cables :
brown
green
black
green
blue
white...
Gamecube controller :
yellow
red
blue
green
white...

i was hoping it would be like the xbox to usb mod just match the collors and its done but its not lol...
i have looked at some diagrams but didnt understand it ^^
so if anyone could help would be great

Searching around it was said there was some circuitry in the cable but knowing the tendency for companies to make things appear difficult for the sake of stopping people such as ourselves I pressed on.

I found a third party (your basic EB cable sort of thing) cable (PCB says 2003-07-2?) in my draw full of cables and with some effort managed to pull it apart.

Good news and bad news:

Bad news is that there is circuitry.

Good news is that it is all basic components (a few resistors, a few capacitors and a few transistors going by letters and examination of it) surface mounted on a single side, single layer board.

I have no idea where the camera is right now (I tried a webcam but even with a magnifying glass it was revenge of the blurry shape) not to mention I broke one or two of the GC side connections when I pulled it apart. Equally it is about 1 am right now so I am not going to map it out by hand not least of all because the wires in mine do not appear to be the correct colours ( http://int03.co.uk/crema/hardware/gamecube/gc-control.htm and http://nocash.emubase.de/gbatek.htm#auxlinkport ). I am quite happy to call basic signals/voltage fiddling though.

Still there are 5 wires coming out of the GBA side and 4 going into the GC (maybe 5 as I am not sure what I broke and how yet)- there are however only 3 outputs of the circuit on the GC side (VCC, sig and ground on the PCB) so I am guessing a common ground. Equally not all the pins on both the GC and GBA sides are filled which makes life a bit nicer.

I bought three of them and they all work!

But if you want to rewire the cables just for fun, I think you would still need some transistors :/
So i don't think it's possible.

Check out this thread; it's about making a GBmicro -> NGC cable. it kind of tells you you need to have a ngc link cable anyway, to be able to make one.

If a simple rewire would do the trick, the tutorial in this topic probably wouldn't use the transistors.
