Hi, sorry for my bad english, but I'm not a native speaker.
Recently i bought a faulty GBA. It's in bad condition but it runs games and sound is ok. Only problem is screen. When GBA is turned on colors are inverted, like negative picture, at first I thought it's something with screen, but when tested with other screen nothing changed, colors where still inverted. I'm afraid it's something with mainboard but I can't localize problem. Below is picture showing what is wrong:

Any ideas what can I do to fix it?

Hi again,
I think that I found source of my problem.

When i bypass it with wire colors are normal but very dull:

Unfortunately I'm not sure if it's only reason of wrong colors on screen. Does anyone know what that little thing called C54 do? I googled it but didn't find any answer.

Ok, still didn't resolve my problem.
Now I know what that little thing is called ;)
It's SMD capacitor, but still no idea what to do with it.

I'm afraid that the screen isn't problem, because I've tested mainbord with two original GBA LCD (one that came with console and second which I'm sure it works perfectly).

It's entirely possible that the colours are screwy because the screen isn't getting as much energy as it's supposed to (or the opposite - too much), which would explain why the screen went "normal" when you bypassed the broken part of the circuit.

My recommendation is to de-solder the C54 capacitor and check its colour coding. Once you find a match, simply replace it. Just make sure that the one you'll be replacing with has the same capacitance as the original should have (in farads).

If it is indeed the problem he will want a pair of fine tipped tweezers and some good flux, those first endeavors into soldering SMD components can be nasty.
