Homebrew Gba full Speed on O3DS?

Just tested Sonic Advance 3 on both my O3DS XL and N3DS XL (both on 9.2 btw) and there is a MASSIVE difference in speed.*

To conclude, either downgrade to 9.2 through a hardmod and start injecting GBA games into VC CIAs, or get a N3DS.

Unfortunately not. It's better to just play GBA on your phone. Even a DS plays GBA on the emulator better than mGBA on O3DS.

No, but you can get pretty close on GPSP emulator. (google the retroarch thread)

GPSP's average frame rate in Fire Emblem is 16-18. mGBA's (non-retroarch, with BIOS) is 24. Are you sure you're using an O3DS?

I was asking the guy I was quoting. GPSP is veeeeery slow on O3DS, even with CFW, so his claim felt as if he missed the point about an O3DS being used.

The best option is the standalone MGBA build, using a GBA BIOS, as it gets you about 2 extra FPS.

Excatly how is a 5 bucks flash cart going to help him play gba games??? The only ds flash cart that plays gba games is the dstwo and that costs quite a lot more than 5 bucks

Just get a PSP for portable emulation. Probably not what you want to hear, but it's the best solution.

On my O3DS I can get the Megaman Battle Network games to 45-50 FPS if I mess with the settings using gpSP. You might be able to get something to full speed if you're lucky, I know some of the emulators had trouble with the MMBN games on N3DS before even if other games ran well.

There are GBA emulaters for DS.

And they are mostly unplayable and a lot worse than gba emulation on 3ds unless you use the dstwo that is.

I use it with rxtools on O3ds with pokemon emerald, full speed. MGBA doesn't get me higher than 30fps, although I've heard it works MUCH better on n3ds.

Else, you won't get anywhere near full speed without cfw on O3ds

Downgrade to 9.2 and then use a CFW that modifies AGB_FIRM and lets you play GBA games without emulation.

Unfortunately, it is true that 10.5 requires a hardware mod to downgrade.
