As this is my first post on this forum, I'd like to say hello to everyone.

The end effect are beautiful saturated colors and great visibility of what is going on in the games. I'm quite proud of my work so i decided to spend last 40 minutes of my life sharing it with you. I hope that you'll appreciate it and that this post will be useful to some of the people like me, who don't want to spent 15-20 USD or don't have access to the ribbon kits ;-P. (I also took this effort to keep the mainboard as intact as possible)

Hey, I recognize those photos in your workdesk.

Hi everyone ,

Someone know where i can buy an original genuine AGS-101 screen and not a replacement screen please ?

Thank you.

Could anyone tell me where I could get glass lenses in bulk maybe like 10 of them. that say gameboy advance on them. I looked up that AliExpress place that Mastah posted up and they do have some but i noticed it only says advance? http://www.aliexpress.com/item/3-Glass-Replacement-Screen-Lens-for-GBA/1439734260.html take a look at those pictures. did they photoshop the word GAMEBOY out? They are only 10 bucks for 5 of them. it would be nice to get these but i want them to say gameboy advance

Nintendo don't manufacture them.

You'd have to buy a used AGS-101 GBA-SP and take out the screen.

But given that's $90 or so, just by a aftermarket screen.

I don't know if there will be "Game Boy Advance" written on the Aliexpress's lens (I was asking myself the same question before buying), but personnaly I bought my glass lens on ebay: http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Glass-materi...aceplates_Decals_Stickers&hash=item233b012bba

The seller send 2 lenses for 3.5$, so it will be 21.5$ with the shipping cost, almost the same price as on Aliexprees, but I guarantee that these lens have the full "Game Boy Advance" name written on them.

Thanks for the reply Schizoanalysis ! I can't spend so much money for one screen.

What is the best solution at the moment: Zerey Zhang, gbaguan from taobao or other sellers? My gba is a 40 pins model and i want the best screen quality !

Woxinum, if you go with Zerey let us know if you get a hold of him. I emailed him last month and he told me he was out of lcd screens and that I would have to wait. since then I have sent 2 emails asking just the prices on his stuff and I can't get a hold of him.

Welp, think I smoked this GBA board. Got things hooked up, had the washed-out screen. Connected those three points, got white screen. Fumbled and connected batteries backwards for a moment, can't get any life out of it. I am an idiot.

Hello!

I have a problem. I ordered a Ribbon Cable 2 weeks ago and it finally came (from here http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/6146565002.html). I have and original LCD screen from GBA SP AGS-101 (it was REALLY cheap and broken, luckily the screen was working) and it works for 100% (I can test it on old GBA SP motherboard. I connected everything like on this mini guide http://rosecoloredgaming.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/rcg-gba-light-manual.pdf and I soldered the cable to this "better point". I turn on the GBA, I can hear the lovely sound that GBA do but screen is black all the time (it doesnt start!)... Ofc. I connect the cable to this ribbon stuff on slot P1. Help me! :(

PS. The motherboard is fine in 100%, normal screen works.
PS.2 I have a 32pin motherboard (10 1-1).

#EDIT!
I can see GAMEBOY logo on screen so it works. But its really dark, no light. Seems like illumination is the problem ...

Nevermind... LOL!!! I f... screwed up with soldiering and now everything works.

I recently bought two classic GBAs and I want to mod them.

I've been looking for screens at Taobao and I found this one but I'm not sure if it's a backlight one. Anyone knows if this is the correct one?

I've been looking also for the new strips. I've found this two:
- Basic option
- Button combination change bright level

It's the first time I try to mod anything. Can someone confirm this screen and strips will work?

For shell replacement I've found this one, but I'm not sure if it contains a crystal/plastic replacement =(

I would appreciate any kind of advice

The LCD's you linked are back-lit and the adapters are correct.
Just check how many pins you got on your gbas and buy the corresponding adapters.

Thank you very much!!

shit wait a minute I might have confused the AGS 001 lcd for a back-lit one.

EDIT

They are being advertised as "GBA - SP highlight new original LCD GBA SP GBA SP LCD screen highlighted version"

I don't really know how to interpret it.
He does emphasize that it is a "highlighted version" could as well be that it is back-lit.

nice, thanks mastahxd. Maybe they left it out for copyright I dunno.

EDIT: Ker those rainbow ribbons look bad ass. 190 yen? Thats like 2 US dollars. How much for shipping? Navigating that site is nuts.

Edit 2: Oh that's not yen... It's Yuan. So like 30 bucks.

2 screens and 2 ribbons are about 70$ with airmail shipping to Spain and insurance (using Paypal to pay)

Do you know any better ribbons or screens? I'm totally newbie.

Edit: 1 ribbon = 3.36$, 1 screen = 14.29$

no i don't actually. i've been looking at the regular ones. they have some on ebay for like 15 bucks. just regular converter ribbons. i'm kinda in the same boat with you.

Thats normal if you buy something from Aliexpress. Seller must hide the original logo (like Nintendo on GBA Shells or other products like football - soccer for Americans - shirts on which Adidas or Nike logo is hidden - sometime even club logo).

Btw. I ordered this but it didn't come yet... I ordered it on 28/06, almost a month ago... GBA shell and ribbon cable came after 2 weeks from China.
