GATEWAY ULTRA v3.4 PUBLIC BETA
Posted on August 9, 2015
Today we are proud to present a new firmware update: Gateway Ultra 3.4!

Summary:
* Fixed new antipiracy check
* Improved firmware spoofing

After we noticed issues surrounding some of the latest game backups not functioning
as 3DS files but working just fine as CIA files, we decided to investigate.

What we discovered was truly remarkable: a new kind of antipiracy check! Yes, that’s right!
This took us five minutes to fix and here we are today.

We also improved the firmware spoofing a bit, as now an additional kernel version check is disabled.
This is mostly useful for New 3DS users that are still on 9.5 emunand and want to play firmware spoofed games that require a higher kernel version.
This fix can also be useful for users that want to keep using an older Gateway Ultra firmware and while still being able to play newer games.

That’s it for today folks!
Support the innovators, and as always ENJOY!

PS: Cheat support is coming! We have a proof of concept ready and we are working on integrating it in the next update.

Wow, looks like there really is a new antipiracy check and GW confirms it :O

EDIT: Games still need cryptofix, this is not something GW can fix; Release groups must add the seeddb dump into their CIA releases. This is the only way!

Well sky is pretty much f*cked
could tboi update be installed on n3ds now and the game would still work?
Lol the binding of Isaac update. Wow.that went over my head. I literally typed out will the binding of Isaac update work now? Then realized that's what tboi stood for lmao

I don't think so. They said they patched a kernel check, they didn't add the N3DS 9.6 encryption keys that the Isaac update uses AFAIK.

Got a kick out of this tbh. At least the card is updatable and they still care about their customers to fix any anti-piracy issues right away. They basically just showed up everyone that invested in a Sky3DS.

Edit: I'd also like to point out one other thing:

[08:10.38] <Team_Fail> as more and more games come out using this new anti-piracy technique, the Sky3DS will slowly become obsolete
[08:11.02] <Team_Fail> i mean, it was a good idea while it lasted
[08:11.22] <Team_Fail> but the fact that they didn't make the cart updatable was the Sky's achilles heel

If the Sky3DS had an updatable FPGA, they could very easily circumvent this check while still maintaining compatibility, but because they have to issue physical hardware revisions, it's at this point that, as mentioned, the Sky3DS will slowly become obsolete as more and more games use this anti-piracy method.

Not to say that I'm opposed to the Sky3DS, as it's a solution for those on the latest firmwares, but your options are getting thinner and thinner by the day now. Unless the Sky Team can come up with a solution that doesn't piss off all their previous customers, the Sky's fate is now sealed. It'll take some time, but eventually there'll be a point where you can no longer play new releases because of this hardware-based check.

why didn't they just "stole" agb/twl firm patch (gba vc support), screenshoot, and mset dg for o3ds and add them as their feature?
too much innovator pride?

Honestly, it would be totally fair trade given all of what was RE'd and released from GW's firmware. :P Puzzled they didn't at least add GBA/TWL. Would have been so easy.
