Hacking Gateway purchased abroad work on US 3DS?

I plan on being overseas for the next few months. Was planning on purchasing the gateway 3ds but wouldn't arrive in time if I ordered in the states. I'm assuming the gateway is universal? If i purchased it outside the states it would work? I really doubt any flashcards would be different from another but want to be extra sure before forking over the funds. Thanks
