ok a couple of hours ago i started systematically rebooting gateway mode over and over to hopefully finally prove that b2 causes bricks....i recorded the whole process, although i will trim the video and upload to youtube, MD5 is correct, official Launcher.dat is used....after seeing many people saying they ran diagnostics before their brick i decided to give that a go a few times and bingo we have a official launcher files and a bricked 3ds caught on camera twice now (i did actually brick 6 times but only recorded it twice)

Things i have already tried
Booting with emunand still triggers the diagnostics brick, without emunand it still bricks, with the date set before 4th Feb (i set it to 25/12/2013) still bricks, i have verified the date modified and MD5 on the launcher files before and after the bricks occurred, both of which where the original values, i have also tried multiple different SD card, which have been freshly formatted
Stats so far
Standard boots ---150+----0 bricks
booting to gateway menu without running diagnostics----30+ --------0 Bricks
Booting to gateway menu and running diagnostics -------- 23 -------- 6Bricks
draw your own conclusions as to the causes

FAQ's

But what about B1 god damn it, is that safe?
I tested B1 with the same method just to be sure and it appears to be perfectly safe to use

does this mean I'm 100% safe if i avoid diagnostics-
Sorry i cant 100% guarantee it but the odds look alot better than if you go running diagnostics, but if you want to be 100% safe, stick to B1

So if i brick can i recover my system somehow -
Yes,you can use a raspberry pi to unlock your nand, this does require some soldering, so you may be better off looking for someone to do it for you if you aren't very good at soldering

So gateway is the devil ...am i right ehhh well am I?????
sure whatever floats your boat

HAHAH YOUR BRICKED -
nah ....im not, technically it shouldn't be called a brick no more as its recoverable

LOL you are so happy about it...

I'm actually doing the opposite using the b2 launcher with the date of my 3DS set at 24 December 2013 and making sure the files of my SD card are Dec 2013 as well.

did you at least show you making sure it was the correct files in the video? I bet they are going to use the excuse 'not enough proof, mightve been another cards launcher'

That's pretty nice because now you can upload it to YouTube and we can start to send massive e-mails to the Gateway Team so they will have to do something about it.

yeah i show the MD5 in the video, and the gateway card etc...wanted to cover all bases.....my SD reader does play up though and i had to reset it in device manager....so anyone really determined can say i did something there

Too late, they probably got their code fixed already so it won't trigger on the original launcher again.

probs just over 100, i had only just started back up and it happen.........i am not saying its easy or very likely, just that some people are still thinking that its only clones and that they are safe on b2, i wanted to prove it once and for all, i was actually just about ready to give up and declare the bricks where freak coincidences

I'm making it smaller so the upload to youtube is quicker, and btw I was actuall hoping it wouldn't happen I'm sure anyone who has seen me on here knows I ain't just a gateway sucks troll, I have just watched it in fast forward and it's actually less it was 71 reboots till it bricked

what were you doing that caused the brick? just running the gateway exploit?

Gateway will still deny the problem, they will make up some excuse that it wasn't because of their code.

But why?
I don't think anyone was doubting that the gateway team are (inadvertently) bricking their own users too.

uh have you read these forums lots of people think that gateway isn't doing it

i figured their was still people saying gateway was innocent blah blah blah, i have a raspberry pi and my nand dump ill fix it myself i just wanted to put the question to bed with people saying it was probs someone with a clone etc

Please post a video "how to unbrick 3DS with PI" !
