The restore of the 4.5.0 NAND worked with decrypt9. So I guess, yes! I don't see anything that might not work.

So your on normal 4.5 firmware? or you're still on luma? Dude you're confusing me tell me what you have on your 3ds. Provide Firmware version & cfw info.

Ok, I don't want to confuse you:
You told me to go back to 4.5.0 and I did it (with the decrypt9wip loaded inside /luma/payloads/ via left-button and then restoring the old 4.5.0 NAND Backup).
After that, I did the Plailect tutorial again, because I could have made a mistake for the first time. But the result was the same as in the first try: I could not load/inject the fbi version of hss.
So I'am currently at part 3 at section 5 (here the link https://github.com/plailect/guide/wiki/Part-3-(arm9loaderhax)#section-v---injecting-fbi).
I hope it is now clear, otherwise feel free to ask more questions.

You did'nt used old guide? & tell me do you want to launch gateway? you can do a thing you have gateway. So you can do that.

Ok Download this file: https://filetrip.net/dl?RIfKJ4xCQS
Extract the folder copy up_v2gw.bin to Sd/Luma/Payloads & copy Launcher.dat to the root of your sd card.
Now reinsert your sd card hold up & power button to boot gateway mode you don't need to creat emunand just boot red card gateway mode.

Download bigbluemenu .3ds version from the google & FBI .cia version.
Copy Bigbluemenu.3ds on your red gateway card.
& FBI .cia on your big sd card.
Launch gateway mode & open gateway menu & select Bigbluemenu.
Load bigbluemenu find the FBI.cia from your sd card & install it.
Now you can use FBI on gateway as well as on your luma sysnand.

No, I used the online available current guide. I didn't found the old version.
Yes I want to use Gateway afterwards. So I can decide before booting of I want to use the gatewaymode or the luma3ds mode.
Ok, then I try your instruction.

you can still only boot with the 4.5 firmware.bin, right?
this likely means that you are somehow on a frankenfirmware, as the firmware.bin is only required when your NAND is on such version (in your case, 4.5).
you can either use FBI.3dsx from the Homebrew Launcher, launched through what i can assume is your 11.0 browser using browserhax (dont worry about not getting ARM9 access, since we have that already with A9LH) and delete the files left over, or go back to the 8.x backup before Gateway, by booting into Decrypt9, selecting SysNAND backup/restore, and selecting NAND Restore (keep a9lh). this will restore your 8.x NAND, but leave the FIRM0/1 protected to keep a9lh

What you'll install in gateway mode will also work on luma. Because its not emunand anymore gateway will also boot on sysmode.

just do the things I told up.

The gateway mode will not boot. Things I have done:
Put the Launcher.dat (from your link) to root of SD
Put up_v2gw.bin to /luma/payloads/
Put FBI.cia to /cias/
Put BigBlueMenu.3ds to / of red gateway
Pressed up and then power. The blue light of 3DS glows for a short time and the 3DS switches off after that.

I can't run the FBI.3dsx, because it gives me the following error: "Failed to acquire kernel access. Press any button to exit." So it will close itself everytime.

Now your only option is to restore the nand again to 4.5 & update to 9.2 using this guide https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-upgrade-your-old3ds-from-4-1-8-1-to-9-2-0-20.389187/.

Well, I have downloaded at the gateways website the 4.1beta Launcher.dat (extract to root of SD), the "arm9loaderhax.bin.zip" which i copied (after extraction) to /luma/payloads/ and renamed to "gateway.bin".
Then I used the Gateway-arm9loaderhax-v2-Bootloader. Copied also to /luma/payloads and renamed it to "down_v2gw.bin".
Now the Gateway loads, but it wants to boot to GW FASTBOOT: SYSNAND. Is this correct?
EDIT: Seems okay. It works as expected.

Okay, with the red card I was able to install FBI.cia and with that I could clear the waste of the Gateway Downgrade! Thank you all very very much, especially Haider Raza!

Is it possible to access GW Menu by holding down L during boot with the a9lh_v2 + luma + gateway.bin + <button>_v2gw.bin ?

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though

    I appreciate the insight!
