Hacking Gateway 3DS Weird Issues.

Look, the video of the led colors flashing indicates an SD card problem, as it passes the first four tests without issue. Did you even watch it, jrr6415sun?

may be the microsd card......or the microsd reader in the gateway
....
....
i tried with 7 different sd (including NEW sandisk class 10) but the gateway dosn't work

it also says the gateway:
Due to numerous issues primarily related to third party hardware

That actually looks like an SD card error. RMA back to a reseller is incredibly time consuming, so if that is the absolute last resort you have to take, then do so, but I'd highly suggest a different brand SD card. Kingstons for whatever reason tend to be the problem child. :P

No. The Kingstons work fine, tried with other SDs.

No, that indicates that it doesn't find the testrom. The Gateway is the issue, no doubt about it. Read the rest of this post to see why.

Doesn't look like there is anything wrong with the gateway from the videos, to be honest. Sending it back will be a huge waste of time. Get a Samsung or SanDisk micro SD card instead. P. S. you should be holding the L button before pressing the DS profile button, so what the hell you are doing in the second video is beyond me...

Forgot to add, the instructions specifically state that if it gets beyond the first couple of phases, which it does in your video, the failure is unlikely to be related to the gateway. Tdlr; get another brand microsd.

It doesn't get past the first couple of phases though... it passes the first, that's it. Goes directly to green after.

A month and a half for something that could potentially not even be the issue isn't a waste of time?

It's not like waiting the two extra hours is gonna delay their response by months, provided you're not on the last day of being able to submit an RMA request for your order. If anything it'll delay your response by a day or two (if you submit it after they close for the day, or two if you submit it late on a saturday and they are closed on sunday)

It's not the SDs.

But buying a new SD for $20 and testing it, knowing that you can return it if it turns out to not be the issue for a full refund, takes maybe two hours between driving back and forth and flashing the rom to the card.

RMAing it to China and waiting for a new one is gonna take you a month and a half, and you still have the possibility of it being the SD rather than the card.

Not the SD.

It's your MicroSD card...fool.

Listen when people give you advice!

2 x kingston...so can't be the SD card!?

BS!

It's your SD card(s) 100%.

How about calm down and wait for the OP to reply before you call me a fool, thanks.

Look guys, it's not the SD card. I have tried it with a Samsung and a Toshiba, each giving the same problems. Also yes I did hold the L button.

Anyway I've already been told by dwtechz that yes it appears to be a hardware fault, and to send it back.

Robo989, it's not bullshit. It's not the SDs, these Kingstons have served me well, still work, and the others do too, but no on the Gateway. Don't tell me that what I'm saying is bullshit.

TDL: You don't have to prove your suspicions to the people in this thread. It looks like you've done your homework and have pinpointed the root cause of your problem. Good on you! Now the wait for the replacement card begins. I hope you report your results here to put all these assumptions to rest!

Thank you very much :D

I also had a weird issue with Gateway...
I didn't use my card much yet, due I don't have much time for it, but I tested it with Dead or Alive Dimensions (EUR) version.
I've played Arcade mode, everything worked fine... and I closed my 3DS, so it went into sleep mode.
When I opened it after a minute the game freezed, and the 3DS restarted.

Did anyone already have any similiar issue?

I also have a problem with cards that can not be read. And the test ROM that did not run.
After a lot of trial and error I found out that the problem was solved by pressing an unused SD card just above the Gateway card at the left side (not the LED side). The SD card is inserted about 2 milimeters, pressing the gateway card a bit down.

I hope this will help you also!

Okay just to update.

DwTechz have acknowledged the error, and are sending out a replacement, and just want proof of postage, I don't have to wait for them to receive it. I have priority for mine to be shipped out. So I am expecting mine in two/three weeks, not two months or whatever as someone suggested.

Nice, so far so good! Please keep us updated!

really?? it was an SD problem?? you're so smart! Ofcourse I looked at the led colors, I got the same led flashing and my SD cards are fine.

Like I said, it was a problem with the GATEWAY.

I can't believe how stupid people were in this thread that talked like they knew everything but actually didn't know what the hell they were talking about.

SD problem can mean you either are using a fake or a non compliant microSD in the red cart.

What exactly do you mean?

my first gateway is faulty, all the genius tell me change the SD and the microsd and the sdwriter, i tried with 3 SD and 8 micro.....the card don t work.
the second card work with always memory, my class 2 brst micro work perfectly in the gateway (without format when change the game)
IF YOUR CARD DON T WORK, THE PROBLEM IS THE HARDWARE GATEWAY

Ah :) I agree. I think the first batch had some... problems.

these people in this thread don't know what they are talking about, don't listen to them.

I had the same problem and my gateway would give me the game has been removed error. When I did the test it looked exactly like your video.

there DEFINITELY is a problem with your gateway card. I got a new gateway card and now it works fine with the exact same micro sd and sd card, my old card does not work at all.. it would do exactly like you show in your video.

I tried switching SD cards, micro sd cards with new ones and I got the same problem. This is NOT a problem with your SD card or micro SD because I used the exact same ones on my new gateway and it works fine.

could this just be a contact issue? maybe 1 pin is not making good contact

well dont know about the red card ,but got my gateway last week and i noticed that the blue card has a gold circut bord ,didnt the 1st batch have a red board in the blue card?
