Yesterday the Gateway 3DS team posted an update on their homepage. They are stating that all 3DS firmwares up to 9.2 (included) will be supported, and that the update will be published soon.

Gateway Team said:
We know many Gateway users are eagerly anticipating our upcoming native firmware support for Systems over 4.5 up to 9.2.
We have currently implemented support for firmware versions 7.0 until 9.2 and adding support for lower versions every day.
We apologize for the delay but want to reassure our users that it will be released soon.

Our proven policy is not to rush a product for a quick shameless buck, but to release highly featured updates which are also future proof. All Gateway owners have been enjoying our product for up to 18 months now and none of them regret their purchase. The same will remain for new users who we are sure will enjoy their Gateway, probably for the lifetime of their console.

Thank you for your support and we ask you for just a little more patience, our release is now just around the corner.

Thanks Breith for the info

You're welcome :P . But next time don't sleep during 3 days and you'll know earlier.

some people in the news team will be fired for not reporting this to the homepage earlier and making me look bad when I post it :P

Wait, so we are allowed to post links to their site now?

oh crap I don't know my own site rules...

*goes ahead and changes the rules*

Pretty sure those who bricked their 3DS because of it is a little regretful. ;)

Good for other users to be able to enjoy it though! I had one myself, but sold it when I got tired of my 3DS. :(

no one knows how exactly its going to work on higher firmware but on 4.5, all you do is format the card to exFAT and drop your roms onto it

i was very "hyped" about this update...

but, since nintendo release 9.3 and 9.4 update, i really doesnt care anymore

i mean, gateway team already said which dont support 9.3 9.4 any time soon, so the situation will gone be the same

3ds user with 4.5 + gateway = emunand (like me)

3ds user with 9.0/9.2 + gateway = emunand as well

BUT

gateway is a thousands steps foward sky3ds, with homebrew and free region support

the only thing them have to achieve is work in 9x versions without emunand and stuff, full support in any version

like dstwo in their days... nintendo releases a update, a day or a couple of hours after that, dstwo team release a new version of firmware to work in new version

I KNOW, its not that simple nowadays

but i can dream, can i

We won't wait forever, hope they can release right away, otherwise, sky3ds also is a better next candidate

And then your screwed next update, forced to buy a new traffic light system cart with more colored buttons. Quit moaning and wait like everyone else does who has an ounce of sense , otherwise buy the fricken games.

Some Temper said something about a SuperCard 3DS coming sooner than we think and that he was offered a sample/review unit.

Why people hate Sky3DS so much? Because it has survived like 5 Updates and keep working on the latest FW? Or Gateway employees here on GBATemp.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol

So that version is semi rare
