Why people hate Sky3DS so much? Because it has survived like 5 Updates and keep working on the latest FW? Or Gateway employees here on GBATemp.

no, most people hate sky3ds because they pirate and can't have more than 10 games per cards. Of course there is a crack and a limitless card. but the hate came from the fact the limit is artificial and just for making people to buy more cards.

WAIT GUYS I HAVE A QUESTION?!
I am having trouble understanding the wording. "We have currently implemented support for firmware versions 7.0 until 9.2"
Does this mean that compatibility on versions 7.0 - 9.2 are all completed? and will be released AT THE SAME TIME?
I was under the impression they will release 9.0-9.2, then release 8.0 at a later date, and then 7.0 at an even later date.
does anybody know?

Considering the pain in the ass that is breaking the limit, it's more that the Sky3DS team released their initial product without fully understanding how the 3DS worked, saved, etc. The limit isn't so much artificial as hard set and people simply found a way to circumvent it, essentially applying the same ideas that probably went into making the redesign unlimited. If they truly wanted to milk people, they would never have released an unlimited card and would have stuck around as the only card that would continue to work on firmwares that Gateway can't.

The implication is that they're trying to finish out support for everything post 4.5 through 9.2 before releasing the update, and that the support will be released simultaneously.

I'm glad I updated my 2DS from 6.1 to 9.2, and then downloaded all the game updates I needed before 9.3/9.4 released. I have also wiped my Internet Settings to prevent the nag screen, as I don't play games online. :)

some people in the news team will be fired for not reporting this to the homepage earlier and making me look bad when I post it :P

oh crap I don't know my own site rules...

*goes ahead and changes the rules*

Have the rules actually been changed? I assume they have because otherwise you would have removed the link. If so you should probably make a bigger announcement.

Why weren't (aren't?) we allowed to in the first place though?

I have my own main reason.
Gateway does update their software often... NOT their hardware.
Sky3DS has updated their hardware, which means buying a new card to bypass the 10 game limit thing.

The downfall is this...
Some user in here already got through the 10 game limit of an old red button Sky3DS without the need of the new one.
That, to me, is false-advertising. Making users and clients believe they NEED the new yellow-button card, and so the users fall for it and fill their pockets with such a mischeavious marketing campaign.

That is dirty.

I can confirm that there are people from Sky3DS registered and active on the forums. I've been contacted by them. You'll have proof soon enough :P

However I can't confirm whether anyone from the Gateway 3DS team is around. I've never seen them or been contacted by them.

You serious? They hate it because it's a cart with less features, the sole purpose of which is piracy

No one hates it because it survived updates, that doesn't make any damn sense

They are here for sure. In several demonstration videos, they have called out specific members of this forum by name when thanking them.

I don't think that's a reason to hate it. I'm pretty sure most people here don't have any moral issues with piracy, and a product having less features isn't necessarily a reason to hate it, just to like a different one more. Why I think people hate it is because one of the limitations it originally had (10 game limit) was obviously an intentional decision, to make people give them more money. They acted as if it was a technical limitation, but the truth is they put in extra effort to prevent people from using more than 10 games per Sky3DS. They did eventually get rid of the limit, but that wasn't until Gateway became a serious competitor. Though of course getting rid of the limit required you to buy a new cart.

They should give those people free flashcarts IMO if they were a big enough help. I'm sure they're marked up a ton anyway.

That "limitation" is no more dude. People hate only cuz its Gateway's competition. I know Gateway was the first ever but a lil Competition is always good. And Im well aware of Gateway superiority over Sky3DS. But there is market for both of them. And BTW im Not a Sky3DS team member or w/e. I just like the cart too.

I don't hate sky3ds much, anyway, it crack 3ds 9.4.0 and let me can play 3D games freely, access e-shop and play online, from the whole to see, it's not a bad card ,while, it is really amazing so many gateway-supporters at there, unbelieveable!?

I already have a Gateway, but i also ordered a Sky3DS (Blue button) for the ease of it, just plug it in and play, another game at just a push of the button and my kids updated the 2DS to 9.4.x and my 3DS's are all at 9.2.x
Yeah Sky3DS only focus is at piracy, but don't all Gateway users also use it for the same piracy? as far as Homebrew on 3DS, there isn't much out there to play (a few emulators (i think 5) a few games and a few applications
Yes there will be more out in the future, but as it stands now, Piracy is the main goal for 95% of Gateway users, while it is 100% for Sky3DS.
Gateway has a broader view with Homebrew, cia files, etc... and all the eshop stuff you can run is also piracy, even if it's a demo!

In the end, ppl will buy what works for them, Sky3DS for anyone with a higher FW then 9.2.x and Gateway/Sky3DS for anyone with FW 4.x to 9.2
Those that want to do more then piracy alone go for Gateway, those who just want to play a game, choose for yourself, only time will tell if you made the right choice, who knows what cart gets the longest support or what cart will
come out in the future with better options!

Look at the NDS carts, those carts that only supported homebrew and no piracy, they came and died soon.

We won't wait forever, hope they can release right away, otherwise, sky3ds also is a better next candidate
Yes. We (the users) won't wait forever. In the past, the GW team made us wait for a reallt long time. But when they release, they never disappoinedthe users. The reason why they make us wait is that they just to make sure EVERYTHING work fine on EVERY DEVICE. Just my opinion. So we just need a little patience

No one hates Sky3DS (but the hater gonna hate :p). But in some areas (like Viet Nam), it is hard to buy a Sky3DS. GW cards are more popular and use widely.

It's called having a brain, which people, yet again are blinded. Let me explain, would you waste money on a product that had DRM in it from the start (10 game limit) and then produce a non game limit card just weeks after releasing their first batch run?

GW has more features and who gives a shit if SKY can run on the latest FW, GW will use Emunand for it. GW have not been squeaky clean either and I'm a prime example of that, yet they delivered and have supported their card without forcing people to get newer additions.

If you wanna buy SKY, then do so, it's your money but don't expect it to last in the long run.

In theory, we will need a DS flashcard that can work on 9.2 right? Like Gateway card, they gave the blue card (works only until 6.1) to install the exploit. Should I prepare a DS flashcard?

I think you guys are overlooking the fact that Sky3DS has consistently updated their template file (most recently 12/19/14), which gives users access to more and more games every time. Sky3DS is new on the scene, and they are just now establishing their fan base. True, we should all be weary of every little thing that they say and do.

Let me reiterate. They said the card had a 10 game limit, which it did. They never said the card had a 10 game "hardware" limit, and it is up to them to program the device to function however they want. They said what it is capable of and established a price. Those that purchased the "red button" Sky3DS got exactly what was advertised, and they should be OVERJOYED that Sky3DS EMBRACED the hack that was made public.

Clearly Sky3DS underestimated the 3DS hacking scene, but they responded very well to the consumer and are now distributing unlimited cards.

Those of you who said "one line of code" would be sufficient to block Sky3DS.... it looks like there won't be an update before Christmas and I'm sure quite a few copies of 3DS games will remain on store shelves while kids download 3DS roms and slap them on their microSD cards this holiday season.... It would definitely be in Nintendo's favor to block this card as soon as possible.

Hi guys just want to ask before I purchase the "New 3ds" japan ver
1.) I was going to buy the gateway before they release the update and was wondering if its easy to update the gateway card without any 3ds?
2.) is there any significant changes on the performance for when playing the New 3ds or will this only emulate the 3ds performance when using the New 3ds
3.) will i be able to play online with games like smash, pokemon and monster hunter?
