couldn't update the Firmware
wont work on any DSi's or above due to you couldnt update the firmware
wasnt it more like this?

That isn't a Flashcard, it is an early Passkey. Early because it still needs a legit DS cart, later ones didn't.
With a passkey you can boot a DS in DS mode from a slot 2 (GBA) Flashcard.
So early DS Flashcards were (slightly modified) GBA Flashcards, booted with a Passkey.

Sorry, guys, but most likely there won't be a menu and multiple games at one time on one card.
For a menu a exploit is necessary. We know this, look at all DSi flashcarts. They used the header of a original game, changed it a little bit et voilà, it loaded the menu and not the game. So for a menu a 3DS game(header) exploit is necessary. And such stuff is blockable very easily. The DS and DSi scene embossed all of us.
While they would need a 3DS exploit to run any unsigned code in 3DS mode, they could potentially have a DS mode menu, and a physical switch to swap between the two modes. It would still be inconvenient (switch to DS mode, load menu, switch game, back to system menu, switch to 3DS mode, load game), but at least you wouldn't need more than one sd card (or to use a computer to switch the rom image).

That is very smart, hope it came out like that

This one probably won't (I didn't see any evidence of this in their video, and they haven't ever released a DS cart AFAIK), but once the hardware is out there, existing DS cart manufacturers will reverse the hardware and release hybrid carts I am sure.

I've read the forum up to page 18 and it's like a broken record. One of the main complaints about this card is that it's a 1:1 . When i bought my X-Rom for GBA the software that I first found for it was just to put one rom on there at a time. It made the X-Rom act just like a GBA cartridge. I would then beat the game and move to the game, i wanted to beat. I think most of the whiners about it playing "only" one game at a time are either fairly new or have been spoiled with the NDS era cards.

Side Note: Yes i did later on, discover "little writer".

My thoughts exactly xD when i saw the news, that thing about 1 sd per time didnt crossed my mind. All i was thinking is "it cant be!? *excitement* is it real??"

place holder for big comment before idiots spam just crap about what posts are going to be about

Finally this materialized

it is indeed not a fake but all the hardware you want for this has yet to be shown

ideally what this card does is make the Game Chip a Micro SD card
the card will have to be formatted correctly and the right size (eg. you will need, 512mb,1GB,2GB,4GB cards)
each card can only hold 1 rom at a time, as it takes up the whole space of the card
surely you get the point here of whats its doing

the next thing is Save Data
as you can see in the video there is only 1 save chip and thats built in, so if you change the game MicroSD without backing up and Dumping the Save data with a Save tool BYE BYE save
as it is wiped as the game recognizes it as corrupt so deletes it
so they will either have to provide a method of extracting/dumping the save or you get a R4i Save Dongle or something that does the job

basically this is a 1:1 clone sort of deal so only 1 at a time, no homebrew, no mods, no save tweaks

Nintendo will most likely just block this with an update to check the game Chip ID and then fail to boot it

enjoy :D
but this is a sole piracy deal here

This logic makes perfect sense, and carrying around microSD cards is alot less space-consuming than game carts.

THERE ISNT A 3DS HACK, SO EVERYTHING AFTER WONT WORK!!!!
DS FLashcards, Use HACKS and EXPLOITS
this 3DS FLASHCARD DOES NOT USE ANY HACKED OR EXPLOITS, IT ACTS AS RUNNING A CLONE OF AN OFFICIAL CARD
THEN WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG FOR IT TO COME OUT????????????????????????????????????????

My biggest complaint is no 3ds-mode homebrew :glare:
Hopefully this will help someone make a real hack :)

Probably because hardware is more complicated than people tend to think and the whole mircoSD to 3ds-card interface is much more complicated than just redirecting some wires.

Really, people are complaining about one rom per micro SD? Stop whining. We're luck as is to even get such a thing. Stop being spoiled brats.

Well this was to be expected with all the fun people have had with DS flashcarts, wasn't it?

I wonder how you put the 3DS roms onto the SD cards so that they are flashed to the right about of space... I imagine a software "ROM flasher to SD" is how, much like writing an .img file to a USB stick...

the micro sd's are probably just as expensive as the official games

it should use the same micro sd card that we use on ds card and other things

it just specially format for the one game to use with this new card

it most likey come use tools for seting up the micro sd card
