For a while I was hooked on Zoo Tycoon DS and I still play Powerpuff Girls: Mojo Jojo-A-Go-Go for the GBA. It was my first video game and it bothers me that I still can't beat it.

i cant think of any DS games but i played (and still play sometimes) just cause on the ps2 for ages the game was just horrible but for some reason flying a plane or helicopter up to the top point in the sky and jumping out never got old lol

Puzzle Quest (Wii)
Copter Crisis (WiiWare)
Puzzle Kingdoms (DS)
Allied General (PC) rip off of Panzer General
Warship Gunner (PS2)

any game on the Mi2 (high quality DSi clone, only available in the Netherlands for now)
pretty much all flash/java game quality games, most of them simplified clones of existing games.
i still enjoy playing some of those games every now and then.

The games I found the most boring in the series are part 5 and part 8. And I freakin' love 5. But it's just grind central. Ironically, I'd say that the fundamental lack of grinding in 8 goes a long way towards it being not worth playing. It's got a compelling story, but a system that actively discourages your fighting seems pointless.
Hey hey hey, how does FF8 discourage leveling? You think that just because of how your SeeD rank will drop if you run around too much? I mean c'mon, that's not a real reason, the rank does nothing really except giving you money which you gain ANYWAY from grinding, so if you grind you don't need it. And you can always up it up by doing the SeeD exams anytime in your menu.

you misunderstand me totally sir.

The salary level was a great idea. Making all the enemies in the game level up with you was not so much. Grinding only makes the game harder, which is the opposite of why you would grind in the first place.

They...leveled up with you? I didn't remember that. But, I did play the game when I was around 14, but still, it wasn't my first RPG so now I'm really curious that I never seemed to notice and it seemed easier when I was leveling up. The truth is, I never did grind too much back then.

Oh god, the D-pad stolen from the PSP, the action buttons, touch screen, photo function, sd card slot and microphone stolen from the DS, and an accelerometer stolen from iPod Touch/iPhone/Wii.
Those guys have inspiration.

Well, to be fair, once you got enough characters to not have them all in the party, there was a way to break the game with that. Only grind with one party, and keep the others down at the lowest possible level. You end up with the monsters averaging out between the two numbers.
