Your cios 251 with base 58 is actually v10 beta 53. I would try installing v10 beta 53 with base 57 to slot 249 and with base 56 to 250 (currently u have v10 beta52 installed to these slots)

Normally v10 beta52 is recommended (or v8 final which is basically the same thing), but cuz you say base 58 works for u, I'm wondering if it's not the base but actually the version that is improving the compatibility for u
Hi XFlak. I tried as you suggested. But another dead end/fail I'm afraid. I can only get games to boot on base 58. It doesn't seem to matter what slot or whether or not I use v10 beta52/53alt, as long as base 58 installed on cIOS it boots up but as mentioned before this comes with other issues. No luck with the Hermes 222-224 slots either. I'm at a loss. I've used dx2 installer and complete modmii method. Not sure if there is anything else I can try besides perhaps getting a hdd 2.0. What do you think?

Just an update. I managed to get WBFS files to run smooth from the SD card with recommended cIOS's and base's with CFG Loader. One exception being Metroid Prime Trilogy which loads smooth but crashes after a short while, but since that's a mammoth of a game ill try to excuse my Wii from that for now. Also tried WiiFlow, but that didn't work and USB Loader GX doesn't have an option to load from SD. These Wii's are fussy things. I think mine is particularly old as I was able to install BootMii as Boot2. I've ordered a USB 2.0 enclosure for my HDD so hopefully that will sort it. Fingers crossed. Thanks XFlak for your help/input thus far. It's has encouraged me to not give up. I'll update once I receive my HDD enclosure. Happy hacking :)

Hi @andybadyfu , I have exact same problem, I tried all described here, and my Wiiflow only works with a cios base 58 with my FAT32 HDD & wbfs games.

However, I still ask myself : what is the problem running with base 58 after all ?
At this moment, every games I tried worked well under wiiflow and d2x 52/53-alt base58...

I search the internet but didn't find what is wrong using base 58 on cios 249 / 250
maybe @XFlak or anyone can tell us more ?

Thank you everyone !

Ok so apart from these ~30 games, I should be okay... Thank you @XFlak for your answer.

I don't think I'll investigate more, cause I already tried everything for literally 15-16hours of turning around and i'm really pissed off :P At this point, after trying something with neek2o, my main USB port seems now dead and I have to use the second usb port (the left one or bottom one depending the wii position) ==> neek2o claim to be safe, but it really fucked up my wii hardware. Even a nand restore with bootmi can't help now... incredible... but it's another topic...

I'll just use my official copies for the handful of games not working, this will do the trick :)

@andybadyfu if your usb2 enclosure works better, let me know :)

What did u try with neek2o? This I literally the first I've heard of something like this ever happening. I wonder if it could have been some kind of coincidence and/or maybe it didn't like your hdd or general hardware degradation and eventual failure. We may never know for sure.

BTW another possible work around is to save the problematic games to an SD card, and load a different cios with base 56 or 57 to play those games as needed

Wiiflow and cfg usb loader have sd support, gx is missing it currently but that should change shortly...

@XFlak : oh yes you are right, didn't think about the SD card, I should give it a try !

For neek2o, the boot was stuck and got a "corrupted filesystem" error message at boot.
I tried to re-generate an image (with modmii)
got the same result ("corrupted filesytem"), and right after that, my usb port was killed.

may be a coincidence...
I may end up to buy a Wii on ebay, saw some for 20 bucks in France.
