She is 30? Try her with some of the more popular titles first, see if she likes them. I'll recommend,

Mario Kart.
New Super Mario Bros
Tetris.
Elite Beat Agents.

Then evaluate how her mood changes. The best way is to try something from different genres, like somebody mentioned earlier. She will soon find her 'niche' in gaming.

The thing to remember is 'Anyone can enjoy gaming, it doesn't matter what age you are'.

I'm a girl and I like games that are RPGs... Rune Factory is a really good game... I like it.

I tried Harvest Moon Cute, and it was kind of strange to me.... I didn't like the controls at all.

There is a really good Rune Factory community on the net, here is the link incase she wants to play it, with a complete guide throughout the game with maps and extras within the game.

A game I am playing right now is Super Princess Peach, it's a mario game, but for girls. It's really fun, and I even know a couple guys who like the game too because it's mario.

I also like Final Fantasy III, and Final Fantasy Chronicles: The Ring of Fates

Nintendogs is fun as well, and I know a couple guys who like that game too, so it's not just for girls!

Let's see... What else?

I like a game called Trace Memory, it's about a 14 year old girl who has to find her father on a cursed island and it's about finding the clues, etc.

I also really like a games called Professor Layton and the Curious Village.

Big Brain Academy is fun as well... I let my Grandma play that game and she had a lot of fun.

It's just trial and error... I've gotten games that I thought looked really good, and they were horrific crap... So, just ask her some questions of what she thinks she might like and try to make some decisions on what you think she'd like.

You can always change it out later if there are games she doesn't care for.

I hope she likes it!

So true, Rune Factory is superior to other Harvest Moon games in any way. Although I wish the battles were a little harder.

Yeah, the battles are a little too easy, especially if you have wifi and you can connect to friends and raise the level of your weapons... Bosses drop like flies. Although, the last boss was the hardest, I lost once, but beat him up the second time! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Even without having someone else upgrade my weapons, I found my weapons decently upgraded. In fact I always felt like my weapons were overkill. Hopefully RF2 has better balance, I wanna try playing RF2 with my girlfriend if US version comes out since she doesn't speak Japanese.

Here is a guide from that Rune Factory Community I mentioned... Myah's Official Rune Factory 2 guide thread! (version 0.15)

And that thread is a complete guide of how to play it even though you can't read Japanese.

I had some issues with the document not showing all the Japanese, so you can also get another guide in supplement to that one, here: Click Here

I hope this helps! Or you can wait until September to play it... I think I am going to wait until September, but a lot of people have no problem using that guide. My only issue is that I will have to either print out a document of the guide, or I would have to sit at my computer during my duration of playing the game, and I don't like sitting at my computer for long periods of time.

Even though I don't have any problem playing Japanese version of games, my girlfriend avoids them if US version is confirmed.

Sometimes I go like "Why am I not playing this great game? Oh yeah, I'm waiting for the US release and gonna play multiplayer with my girlfriend..."

Like there were a few games I imported, and then ended up buying the US version again just for her.
(Also note that it's so very hard to sell that Japanese copy around here)

That's understandable... I don't like playing Japanese games either if I know there is a US release coming out as well... There is one game though, that is not coming out and I can't understand it for the life of me. It's called Mamegoma: Honobono Nikki and it's a game where you take care of these cute little seals. I am going to attempt to play it again, but I wish I knew what was being said. I have attempted to learn Japanese, but it's futile. Maybe I just don't give it enough time. Hehe.
