Games doesn’t get past title screen in Aroma

I updated my Aroma to the latest and at the same time installed Pretendo. That I shouldn’t have done. First I got these error messages when booting into Aroma. Found out that Pretendo clashes with some plugins. So I deleted Pretendo from my SD card. Now when trying to boot into a game from my external HDD it just gets stuck at the games title screen. Tried several games and all the same issue. I’ve even tried installing 01_sigpatches again but it still doesn’t get past the game title screens.
I suppose I need to reinstall Aroma fresh off from the start without any plugins. What’s the easiest way to do this?

1. USB failure? Try a Y cable or a HDD enclosure with external power supply.

I bet is a power issue with your HDD.
Confirm if you are using a Y Cable and where it's connected.
