Damn 2,000 for a gcloader.. that is alot of money
Shit how much would it be to build a sega cd EMu for the wii ,.. 100 bucks

I think everyone is free to ask any amount for any kind of work, we live in a free world.
If you don't like the idea that someone wants money for his work then wow, people need money to live btw and can't just work on free stuff all the time. Nobody is forced to pay/donate anything, it is just the usual pirate - wants everything for free ...

also what are $2000? if 2000 people donate $2 each?

The pay for programmers is in a huge range kinda $20-$300 per hour, just assuming one would pay $37.50, $2000 would pay for 53Hours of work which are 6 days with 8hrs per day.
We know marcan can do an "crappy loader" USB loader within 6 hours but without any features basicly just loading a single game from USB.

I think that it takes alot of time and RE'ing to make a GCLoader since obviously we don't have single one yet, but we already have THREE (four if you count marcan's too) wii usb loaders by different people.
If you want your GCLoader anytime soon this sounds like a good shot to me...

believe it or not most wode users are not that interested in GC loading they buy a wode for its simplicity to use, with newer features like samba and ripping on a virgin wii wode has lots more to offer than just GC loading. When the sd bootloader is public the more tech savvy can also run their own kernels and what not on it.

Looks like someone is hoping a little too much in what people are willing to pay for homebrew.... btw, what about the fullspeed nds emulator you were advertising some time ago ? Isn't there enough donations yet to get it released ?
donations? i never asked for any money or recieved any, when my wii broke and i asked for donations to help get it fixed so newer CIOS (and later the 1st usb loader) could be worked on i think about 3 people actualy helped me out. so i dunno where your getting this donation crap from

umm I swear I read somewhere on these forums that people could play GC over USB using sneek.

That feature isn't fully developed. You can only load the ISO in the Disc Channel, but won't be able to play it.
Are you saying that once the feature is fully developed it will be possible to load and play GC games on USB via SNEEK?

Yes. But currently crediar is taking a break from SNEEK so it's going to be at least 2 months.

This was a (poor) joke related to the fact that this supposed emulator (fake ?) was never released. ALso I'm not speaking about you (you are obviously not a dev/hacker) but to the guy who is asking money for releasing hyped stuff

i believe linkinworm said a few pages back someone made one but not releasing it without $2000 something along those lines lol. And yeah Deadly is right actually most people I know bought a WODE strictly for GC loading. I know I'm getting one for that very reason, and the whole virgin wii thing for WODE, maybe somebody who's used to doing modchips and stuff, you think someone who didn't wanna touch their console with homebrew etc etc would really wanna open up their wii and all that? doubtful

never said the money was for me. and just because i dont release stuff doesnt mean i dont dev or hack anything. also my college work is more important cos i need to pass if i want to do more games development at uni. so i do dev stuff, i just dont focus it on the wii because i cant hand in work for it in college since the wii we have there isnt allowed to be hacked. IE my tutor wouldnt be able to mark any work i do.

Well I'm getting a WODE for my son in the next couple of months but imho a few quid from me is a fair thing. I don't care what the money is for either, if it's XXXXX and he wants hookers and beer what do I care, it's not like he or ANY other dev doesn't deserve a gift here and there.

I'll repeat what I said a while back, if you bumped into wanin or crediar or one of these dudes in your local pub would you not buy them a pint or two ? I think it would be cheeky not to get a few rounds in, I can tell you from experience it's no fun sitting at your pc for hours failing at a lot of things to get 1 tiny breakthrough and then when you give it to the masses your lucky to even get a thanks.

First, Thanks to all who have worked hard to bring software selflessly to the masses.

Secondly, Hello all, I have not posted here before.

I have been involved with open source software, and home brew for a while and I am wondering the same as You.

I just happen to remember the Dolphin open source GC emulator having a native mode for running on compatible PPC processors.

I THINK that the Wii may have enough in common with the GC to make it (Dolphin) run on Wii.

It could even be hacked down a bit and have the options hard code to point to the Wii devices. This means minimal configuration.

It would be running as a Wii application or using a home brew open source CIOS file through bootmii, (Or something similar).

As a Wii application access could be enabled to for all ports for which IOS files exist.

I would love to run them on my 4.2U with hard drive like I do my Wii games.

I hope this Idea is useful to some one on here.

I have been toying with this idea for a while.

It is a bit different,
so tell me what You think.

The Wii running an Emulator of the Wii, to run GameCube games = epic fail... you would get like 3FPS

"The Wii running an Emulator of the Wii, to run GameCube games = epic fail... you would get like 3FPS"

Native mode means that there is not any Emulation of the processor. It would only allow access not emulate.

Therefore there are no processor cycles wasted on process interpretation.

I think You missed the point. Think of this as Colinux on windows with out the windows to chew up resources.

In the case of CoLInux and windows on PC,
Both are written to run on the same architecture of the system being used, there is no "Emulation.
There is just a thin compatibility API layer.

Is the Wii's MIOS not already an API layer? Does it not already use some resources?

Anyway, Thanks for playing.

No worries I do appreciate the input. Have a great day.
