Regardless of whether or not a Nintendo handheld is powerful enough to emulate Gamecube hardware, if you are talking about any official emulation, it will never happen. Nintendo wouldn't do it. That also goes for N64 emulation. It is their mentality that console games were made for the home environment, whereas handheld games are made with pick-up-and-play in mind. Nothing needs to be explicitly said for anyone to know that, we just need to look at the DS and Gameboy library of games. Just think about every Mario game. They're games that you can just pick up, finish a level and then stop. Gamecube games do not have this kind of gameplay. Take the PSP for example. They may have a few excellent games, but at the end of the day, their games aren't as geared towards portable gaming as Nintendo handhelds have always been and that's what's been the difference between the two systems.
