Is it possible to create an ISO file from a wii game that has been burned onto a dvd-r? I would basically like the game from the dvd-r and onto a USB hard drive, would I need anything special to do this?

You should be able to dump it using the USB Loader like you would with an official disc. Alternatively you can use IMGBurn to copy the disc to your computer as an ISO and add it to your HDD with WBFS Manager

yes...you can either use the usb loader itself and rip it like an official disc or you can copy the image via imgburn as stated above. i did both ways and they all work great.
