Well, I recently got a N-Card, and I followed all of paul1991's instructions on what to do. However, my computers don't detect the DS when I connect it to the computer via USB.

When I connect, nothing happens =/ I booted it on safe mode and regular, too.
I also changed the connector for the ds>usb port, and it still doesn't work. When I tried to run the NAND_ALL file, I got init usb writer *next line* nand_init error!

I get the feeling that my N-Card is defective, but I'm not exactly sure =/ The usb connector is a bit loose inside the slot 2 card, if that helps. Also, on the guide, the picture of the manual boot screen had USB Safe Block D14 (ADDR5), while on my screen, it only says USB Safe Block D12

I'd appreciate help =P Thanks ^^

Instruction for what ?
-- Do you mean upgrading firmware ? Or just that youve got a new card and it isnt detected by the PC ?
Which operating system you use on your PC ?

Can you enter the Game-Select menu of the card ?

The instructions paul posted in page 2 or something.

I have a new card that isn't detected. My PC is Windows XP.

Yes, I can go to the game select menu.

Don't know which post you mean xP
---
The card NEVER has been recognized by the PC ?
Did youve tried all USB-Ports ?
Did you've tried to connect it on another PC ?
Did you've cleaned the contacts ?

+ Are you even able to go into USB mode ? If yes, Start USB mode just with the Slot2 without the cable hooked.
When you connect the cable now, does the color of the text on the DS change ?
If not, maybe try to use another Cable,

Yes, I tried on both computers (Laptop Vista, and XP desktop). No, I haven't tried all USB ports =/
What are contacts?
You mean pressing up, l,r,a,b together when turning it on? Yes, I can. The color of the text is red =/ I tried the cable it came with and a cell phone cable.

EDIT: Would the fact that my XP desktop is an iMac running on Bootcamp make a difference? =/

EDIT 2: Also, I'm using a NDS, not NDSL. =/ I sawed off the side that stuck out because I thought it was mis-manufactured LOL Would the connection problem be due to that?

EDIT 3: After reading through some topics in this forum, I realized that when you open the N card, the screen is supposed to have two options? When I open mine, it goes automatically to the game list. Does this have any significance? =/

It seems that your DS doesn't recognize the Slot-2 Module =|

Usualy on booting a DS with N-Card an the Slot-2 Linker there should be a choose between "USB Mode" and "Menu".

It doesn't matter that you use a Phat-DS-Slot-2-Linker with a DSLite, should be the same just a bit more of plastic.

If you only insert the Slot-2 Module (Without any card in slot-1) you should be taken to the Original DS-Menu. Does the DS show you, that there is something in slot 2 ?

With cleaning the contacts I mean, that you should try to clean the golden contacts of your Slot1 and 2 with an ereaser.

When I put in a game, yes, it does show something in slot 2. However, when I insert the slot 2 linker that game with the N card, it doesn't show anything =/

Also, how are you supposed to stick an eraser up that thing? >

Hm... , the Slot 2 module seems to be broken. . .

I just got it like yesterday. I don't wanna go get another one.. ALREADY!! =/

Is there another possibility of what happened?

EDIT: I just realized something. When it goes into the slot 2, I don't think it goes in all the way... >.>" I compared it to one of my GBA cartridges, and realized that at how far it goes in, it doesn't touch the bottom.. would this be the problem? =/

HI, many thanks forst of all for all the help and advice here, it's a godsend.

I've got a N-Card for my daughter's DS Lite, which I have put on the OS UNC v2.5, and I also have got her a DS Firecard, but she's going bananas because she can't save games. Is this possible with what she's got?

Cheers

- can i also ask please, what is "soft-reset". I've done searches through the forums but I'm not sure it goes that basic for novices, thanks.

Hm: You now own 2 Cards ? Both on the same firmware ? on one saving works but on the other not ?

Soft-Reset: By pressing all buttons while playing you go into the menu... (Just some small feature for people that are too lazy to restart their DS. . .)

Sorry, but I'm not even at the saving stage yet! My girls say they can't save their games (that was on the N-Card before yesterday when i followed instructions and put on the OS UNC 2.5. The DS-Firecards only received yesterday and I've not given them to my girls yet), but i've done further research & understand that if you
- highlight the game in the menu
- press + hold select
- press L or R you can change to AUTO
then the games automatically save? We'll be trying that tonight.

When you ask what "firmware" they are, is that the OS UNC 2.5?

How do I find out what the firmware is on the DS-Firecard?

Many thanks for helping.

AUTO means that the card tries to detect the Save type automatical.
( There are 4 (i think so...) save types aviable, depending on how much space a game needs for saving a special type is needed. If that save type is set to something wrong, it usualy means that saves don't get saved)

+ Yes, the firmware is 2.5 ^^" Sorry, overreaden it in your first post :x
It's at least 2.5~ so one of the newest

( Firmware version gets displayed in the selection menu on the top screen in the top right corner~ )

And just a warning

:
Don't delete the xmenu.dat on your card, or you will get problems because the menu won't load.
(Hell, there were millions of people which had problems because of that
