hi,
i have a ps2 (PAL) and its a fat model. the model is SCPH-30003 R. i want to know if there are ways to mod this system. and if hdloader works on it or any other method.

Idk if it's different for PAL fat PS2's, but for a North American fat PS2 you can run games off a hard drive with OPL if you have the network adapter. Here in the US network adapters go for $10 and memory cards with free mcboot also go for $10.

Forget about loading games with HD Loader, it's only good for copying your legit games onto the hard drive. OPL works with more games.

You're asking if you can keep the .elf file on the harddrive? Idk. There's something called freehdboot, which runs from the hard drive so I'm guessing yes. I've never tried it, though.

If you already have the HDD and adapter, you may be able to get an image which has free HDBoot and/or a pre-hacked HDDOSD (note: the latter can't be distributed here).

Free HDBOOT is essentially MCBOOT but running from the HDD.

The HDDOSD based method can get complicated though it does have some advantages e.g. backups of game saves on the HDD.
