So, I ruined my old 4GB memory stick recently, and rendered it unusable, is there anything I can do to fix it? My PSP runs 6.60 PRO-C2, and I was in the middle of trying to copy Misadventures of Tron Bonne to my PSP from my unmodded PS3 while in a hurry, and the PS3 was going really slow that day (Took about three minutes to copy the 8KB save file), and I ended up having to yank the PSP mid-copy. As I expected, it created a corrupted file, but my PSP could not delete it. Later connected it to my computer, tried deleting it through Windows, Windows said it deleted without error, but it still remained in the folder. Tried deleting the entire GAMES folder, nothing deleted. I tried formatting the entire memory stick, the PSP couldn't do it, Windows said it did it, but it didn't actually delete ANYTHING from the stick.

Would putting a magnet to the memory stick and trying to format it work? If not, any other solutions?

Try opening it in a disk editor (for example, HxD running as administrator), overwrite the first few megabytes, save and unplug, reconnect (it will now be unpartitioned), and use a partition editor like Diskpart to recreate a single large partition, then it will reformat!

(barring hardware damage that forced the controller into permanent read-only mode)

try check memory stick for errors on PC (and fix) it may have some bad sectors. Also

psss... you can format it on PC and PSP.

Do I overwrite them with anything specific, or just random bytes to destroy what was there?
EDIT: How far do the first few megabytes go?
EDIT 2: HxD keeps giving a "Data error (Cyclic redundancy check)" message everytime I try overwrite the memory stick

Windows doesn't ask to scan and fix when I plug it in. And as I said, I tried formatting with both the PSP and PC. PSP says it can't, Windows says it did it, but doesn't actually do anything.
