FlickBook v0.1
Animation creator
This is the type of homebrew I've been waiting for! FlickBook is a new WIP application that allows you to create frame-by-frame animations using the Nintendo DS touch screen and export them as .AVI files on your PC. The exporter is Java based so read below, or head on over to the authors site to learn how to use it.
A DLDI compatible flash kit is required, system files are created automatically, so just copy the .NDS across which is mirrored at our Downloads Centre.[title:FlickBook v0.1]FlickBook
FlickBook is an animation toy for the Nintendo DS.
It requires a DLDI device with write support, so patch in the normal way.
Feel free to post comments/suggestions/problems in the gbadev forums.
The latest release is FlickBook_0_1.nds.
The latest release of the Java AVI Exporter is FlickbookAnimMaker_0_1.jar.

Java FlickBook AVI Exporter
The Java FlickBook AVI Exporter allows you to convert the FlickBook animations into uncompressed 24bit colour AVIs. These AVIs should be playable in most media players and can be converted into a more compact format using your favourite movie format converter.
How to use
Run from the command line as:
java -jar FlickbookAnimMaker_0_1.jar
Or maybe by double clicking/right clicking the jar file.
From the FlickBook directory on your DLDI device, copy the film_? directory of choice onto your PC. Select File->Load film and open the flickbook.xml from the film_? directory you just copied. You will be presented with a Set frame bmp directory dialog. Select the directory that contains the frame .bmp files (this will be the layer_0 directory if you have not changed anything).
You can now preview the film at full speed (12 frames/s) and half speed.
To export the film as an AVI file select Export->Export AVI. NOTE: if the half speed checkbox is selected the generated AVI file will run at 6 frames per second otherwise it will run at 12 frames per second.
The generated AVI files are fairly large (about 1.1MiB per second), this is because they are uncompressed 24bits colour. So you may want to convert them to a compressed format for distribution.
