It's so much easyer, it's fail-proof if you plug your DS to the AC charger..

I just flashed two DSL's with a toothpick in foil, in tape. Trust me - I thought it would be tough, but its not.

What I'm wondering is how he got that blue light on the power switch in the lite

Modded it himself. You can just buy clear buttons and place LEDs under them, and connect the LEDs to specific places on the motherboard which would supply it with power.

I flashed my DSL a couple hours ago with a Small NailGun Nail covered in Foil. It was fast and I'm glad nothing bad happened

Now what to do with my Practically-Brand New Passcard 3?

Hells NO. I'm buying a New DSL and I'll need it to flash the one I'll buy. My currect White DSL sucks. ( it's not so bad, but the battery cover is kinda broken. And I almost bricked it being careless )

I've flashed 1 DS phat and 5 DS Lites with a toothpick covered in tin foil. 100% success, and no difficulties whatsoever. In fact, I think the toothpick is probably anyone's best bet.

EDIT: I gotta admit though, that self-made tool he used is really cool.
