Undoubtedly fake.

You know what...I'm going to hold out hope this is real. Not because I feel the hack is necessarily legit (everyone agrees how it can be faked with no card on screen) but because I'm tired of being cynical. Every few days someone hops on here and just yells "HAY GUIZE I FOUND THE COMMUN KEY!!1!!1" and we quickly shout them down. Well, this guy has put quasi-effort into producing videos, pictures and a chatroom. Either he's the real deal or he's a charlatan, and either way I wanna believe that someone has a.) gotten the exploit and b.) is finally going to do something with it. When/if he gets exposed in the next 24 hours, ya'll can mock me, but until then, I'm holding out for a hero.

c0d3wiz: so how did you do it?

flipnoteman12: sd card

c0d3wiz: well i know that, i meant, how did you hack the sd card slot?

flipnoteman12: i cannot tell exactly how i did this at this time, what i can tell you is it had something to do with linux.

ROFL. "It had something to do with linux." That works just as well as saying, "I clicked on the thingie. And it did stuff." It's like the Serious Computer Talk that came out of Hackers. His "linux" was a bunch of CG towers. And the way to access them is to fly through a 3d landscape. You know, like a real computer!

HACK THE PLANET!!

I think this guy is the real deal, but if he is faking it, at least hes honest, not one of those trolls that scream out "I DID IT! I GOT THE KEY!" when they really dont got nothin

EDIT: sorry for my noobiness but, why do you need a "common key" to make a homebrew app?

The user got off just before I could get on answer on what his username is on GBAtemp. He says he's a member, but I dunno who...

Ha... Nothing screams fake more than a "Oh noes, my files '?' gone, now I don't have to prove anything..." page.

DSi Brew is recovering from a complete hard drive failure, we lost everything, even our sd card hack.

Now we don't know when it will be done, we have to completely start over.

Sorry,

Here's a recent interview with the DSiBrew guy:

I actually feel sorry for this guy It is well known already that inventing so much BS produces hard drive failure.

Technically, we don't. But it is incredibly useful. Common key allows "us" to decrypt anything on DSi (System Menu, Channels, Saves, etc.), which helps hackers find exploits and vulnerabilities, and then to exploit them. At least, I think that's the gist of it, not an expert lol.
